confused baby?

We have been doing EC with my 10 month old since Tuesday and it has been absolutely amazing! He doesnt let us know when he needs to go, but every time we put him on the potty he either goes and then stands up or he gets up right away if he doesnt have to go. Its like he knows when hes done and gets up. It has been great!

Then today, he decided he doesnt want to sit on the potty. It was fine the few times he didnt have to go, but one time I eventually got him to sit til he peed. Then tonight, he didnt want to sit so he was standing at the side of the tub and he peed on the floor(which Ive read is normal and good because theyre still getting the connection with the bathroom and peeing).

I just feel like maybe hes thrown off because we havent been at home so much the past couple days, so he has been in diapers(which I change often so he doesnt get comfy being wet). But maybe I should get a travel seat so I can give him the potty in public restrooms? Any other advice or input? I dont want to go through this every weekend when we dont sit around home as much. We also have a trip planned to go to my college homecoming football game and Im afraid this same thing will happen if we dont work on getting him used to it now(its 3 weeks away and an 8 hour cartrip-yikes!) Any advice on that?? Ill be with him by myself for most of that car ride...(what did i get myself into?!)

oh and also, he wakes up around 5 or 6 am crying(normal up time is 9) so I put him on the potty and he goes, but then its nearly impossible to get him to go back to sleep! Do I just keep putting him on the potty and pray that he will eventually stop being ready to play at that time?
