refusing to sit on potty

I just starting ecing my 14 month old daughter. We had been doing well and had 4 catches!

Now she refuses to sit on the potty and goes straight as a board when I try. She will play with the potty and point to the bear on it, carry the potty around, drop things in it but will not sit on it any longer. Also when I ask her if she needs to potty and show her the sign she will happily walk to the bathroom but only wants to play with the toys! So I know she understands the word and sign but maybe she thinks I am asking if she wants to play in the bathroom? I don't know.

I have tried moving the potty, even desperately in front on the TV! But she wants none of it.

Any experience with this? Is it a phase? Should we take a break?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, I have experience with "straight as a board"!! It's possible that she doesn't actually have to go, or she has to go but doesn't want to sit on the potty. When my babe doesn't want to sit on it, she just plain doesn't want to sit on it. If I know she has to go, I'll let her walk around outside or somehwere not carpeted and be prepared to clean up. Or I put her diaper or training pants back on and let her know she can tell me when she needs to go. She's still trying to figure it all out! Sometimes they do like to play in the bathroom, too!
