AIO vs fitted with cover (os)

Thread Starter
Hi there,
I am sure this has been asked before, but I can't for the life of me find anything. I am thinking of washing my own diapers (use a service currently). I want something easy but one that will work. I am debating between the mother-ease bamboo OS with covers vs. the bum genius one-size organic AIO.
Thoughts? I need to know the pros and cons or if I should just have a few AIOs on hand and go with the fitteds for daily wear...
any help would be great!
thanks!

I prefer a seperate diaper and cover overall. I find they get cleaner they last longer and I can have the opton of going coverless for extra air flow at home.

I like fitteds better: they're cheaper to begin with, last longer in the long run, are more breathable, and are easier to clean. AIO's can be good for daycare, though.

For me, MEOS are just too bulky. My Bg's leaked in the beginning, and are wide in the crotch. Plus, I now know I can't stand velcro. I prefer BK's org. fitted stuffed with 2 joeybunz. The outside isn't even wet when I change DS, so I don't use a cover. I love that because I know air is able to flow freely. I also have some prefolds, just for a change, and extra stuffing. HTH

I also preferred the two piece systems of fitted diaper with cover. I was able to customize the diaper absorbency and cover breathability depending on what dd was doing (playing in the house, sleeping, etc.) I also found that I had pretty much zero leakage using fitteds and covers. Two sets of elastic around the legs and waist Plus it is usually more economical to be able to reuse covers for multiple changes vs. washing and drying the AIO each time. Do your current covers still fit well?

I'm not a huge fan of OS. There is usually a compromise in the fit in the smallest and largest size ranges. Most OS fit best in the "medium" 15-25 lb. range and if you buy a size medium in most brands, they fit for over a year anyway. Just be sure you are getting a good leg fit; that is the area most prone to leakage in OS products. I would try a couple things to check the fit before doing a major switch-over.
