BFing Question

OKay--- I am looking for some information to help out my friend.

My frineds baby is 8 days old and she has all of a sudden decided she wants to nurse him-- sooo here are my questions

-Will it work for her?
- Any ideas on how you can transistion a baby who's had 8 days of formula to just BM?
-ANy ideas at all?

I don't have experience with this, but I am sure it is possible. I would get in contact with a lactation consultant and la leche league for some support. I am sure you will get lots of responses, but I just had to post a thumbs up for your friend. It may be a challenging change, but what an awesome decision to make for the baby....

Also, I think getting that baby to breast as much as possible ASAP is important. I think pumping in between too would help stimulate supply.

Fabulous! Definitely agree with the pp, get her in touch with qualified support...an SNS may be a way to go...in the meantime, lots of skin to skin, babywearing, bathing with baby perhaps, pumping, and check out kellymom for some tips which may help the baby to take the breast. I am sure it will be possible (I would think that after only 8 days it might be possible for her to build up a full supply, but it's also possible that she may only be able to get a partial supply...still great for her and her baby).
