birthday party success

My daughters 4th birthday party was yesterday afternoon. It was a huge success for multiple reasons. One cause it was just a lot of fun.

A friend of mine had a new baby 3 months ago. She had a premie the first time and was unable to BF or pump for him so she really wanted to BF her second. When she was born I went over daily to help her and now she EBF : At the party yesterday her baby started to fuss and she said that the baby was hungry, and asked where she could nurse. We had the party at a local kids store, and they told her to just pick a spot and do it, didn't matter where. So she said she was going to find a corner so she could. I told her, in front of everyone, there is a chair (right behind her on the wall by the stairs, not really hidden, but out of the main traffic area, center of the roomish) sit down and have at it. She laughed. I said seriously just pull em out and do it, we have boobs, or have seen them. Feed the kid.

She did. This was huge for her she's extreamly modest and shy and she's never had to NIP before. Many people at the party complimented her on it.

Then not 20 min later Karrigan wanted to eat, so I latched her on and walked around, she's 16 months, but small enough for me to still carry, and the staff were very nice, one even commented on how nice it was to see me nursing an older baby.

It was a very positive day all around.

I thought I would share.

That's really nice of you to stand up for her and encourage her. I think people in general need to be exposed to breastfeeding. Good job.
