Washing wooden blocks

I scored a big tub of alphabet blocks at a yard sale this weekend. They look brand new but I want to give them a cleaning before DD gets her hands (mouth...) on them just to be sure

How do you all clean blocks? I was thinking a swish in hot water with vinegar and a bit of soap?

Maybe a soft cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol? It'll evaporate before it has a chance to damage the blocks, I would think.

Alcohol might remove the paint, so test that first if you want to use it.

I cleaned some we got (that were actually pretty old and dirty) with a damp rag and Dr. Bronner's liquid soap. I didn't actually swish them in water, just wiped them down with the rag and then let them dry.

I always give my freecycle & yardsale finds a good dunking or scrubbing in a diluted BacOut solution. It cleans & sanitizes, plus I feel it is safe to use around babes since I use it on my diapers & all. Sometimes I soak & scrub (say for little people) other times I just dunk & rinse (wooden blocks) and sometimes I use a rag (wind up sesame street "radio"). It works pretty well, imo.

Awesome, thanks for all the suggestions!

I think I will swish a few and see how fast they dry. If it takes forever I will wipe with the rag.
