What are the major challenges? What kind of dirt is in Georgia (typically) to work with? When are those frost dates again? What kinds of bugs/blights/etc. are there that need to be dealt with gardening-wise?
I'm just so used to where I live (across the country - been here pretty much all my life) that I haven't a clue about other places.

It does depend on whereabouts in GA you'll be, of course. Hopefully someone can help you out with frost dates, or you can check the county extension office(or their website if they have one?) if they still have those?

You'll probably still find red clay up there though, sorry lol. The sun IS harsh, and the temps get absurd ( I was in middle Ga, about 1.5hrs south of Atlanta, in August and it was 106
So definitely plant where you can score a bit of afternoon shade.
