The public is amazed at my Moby Wrap

This is my first baby, and she is 9.5 weeks old. After lots of research, I decided to get a Moby Wrap. I love it :: It is an absolute life saver and I couldn't live with out it. It's my #1 thing for must haves.

Anyways... Anywhere I go, I have at least 3 people approach me and ask about the carrier. I usually have my DD in the newborn hug, but sometimes I have her front facing so she can kick her feet and smile at passing people. When I go to the baby super store, pregnant women and women with children all ask me where I got it and if they can buy it at the store. At the mall, women stop and stare at us, then approach us to ask what it is. I've had dads approach me and ask where they can get one. My SIL just had her baby, and I had DD in the Moby Wrap while I waited in the waiting room. A lactation consultant approached me and said she wished every momma carrier her baby like that. A nurse said to me, "I had something like that 40 years ago with my babies. I love it."

I'm amazed at how many people do not know what these wraps are and what life savers they are. At every opportunity I try to tell people about them and DD is the best little model for them ever. She's either smiling at people or snoozing quietly.

I've had nothing but positive reactions from people regarding my wrap. I just wanted to share that with you guys since I know we all get frustrated that it's not more expected and used. :

Welcome to the Dark Side

Wait till you get a carrier that allows you to back carry. You really get the stares then. I wrapped dd on my back in the cart area of the store once and had an audience of 4 or 5.

I really loved my stretchy wrap too. And still get at least 1 question or comment when I wear my 18 month old dd.

Isn't it great to introduce people to something that will change their life, and maybe it will introduce the whole world of 'crazy' things us MDC girls do

Ha I get the same reaction when I wear my LO. When I wear her in a sleepy wrap (just like the moby) I get a lot of stares. I think its a little more "weird" looking to the averge person than a sling. But a lot of mommas ask me where they can get one!

When we lived in Costa Rica the remarks I got were amazing! Everyone there carries their babies in arms everywhere (those women must have much stronger arms than me!) & when they would see ds in my sling they just thought it was the BEST thing ever! The funniest part was that I was always told how smart & inventive I was & would have to explain that I was far from being the first person to babywear. Too funny!

Welcome to the wonderful world of babywearing! Wraps are just such wonderful parenting tools. I still use woven wraps most days with my 3 1/2 year old!

I've had so many people come up and ask me about my ringsling and mei tai, and listen intently to the info I'm giving them, that I started joking I was going to make business cards with the info printed on them and hand them out!

I considered this in the realm of joking until one lady scrambled around in her purse and actually wrote down what I was telling her... then I realized that many more of the people who stopped me would actually be able to follow through and learn about babywearing if I did have cards to hand them, and that I can just hem up the tail of my ring sling to have a little pocket for them.

They are now on their way to me.
