So...what is REALLY the best daycare diaper???

If I were the only one changing diapers, I would be perfectly fine with a 100% prefolds stash. So inexpensive and so easy to care for! I wouldn't even have to be the only diaper changer, because I think everyone in my family is cool with trifolding or even using a Snappi. But there always comes a time when I want to leave the baby with someone and be able to honestly say "Here, the diapers go on just like disposables except you put the used ones in this bag and send it back to me."

So, what do YOU think is the best daycare-friendly front-Velcro-closing pocket or AIO to supplement a mostly-prefolds stash? Which are most comparable to prefolds in terms of ease of care? Are AIO's better because you can get them in all cotton inners? Or are pockets better because you can stuff them with the prefolds you already have? What about custom-made WAHM pockets with linings made out of cotton instead of polyester?

For daycare I found a no fuss AIO to be the best I didn't need a huge amount of assorbancy and found pockets and one size anything awkard but work horse AIOs were the best. Every daycare I used or worked for required a diaper change every 2 hours on average so the super assorbancy of pockets or such just wasn't a big factor. I found the bumkins AIOs worked best for us but now there are probably some better choices like the sposoeay. Some places loved if I used a liner others could care less don't expect them to do anything with poo they jsut wrapped it all up and put it in the wet bag..

I have used BumGenius 3.0 for a year now. No fuzz, put it all in the wet bag, I deal with it at home. Never had any problems. It only took a few reminders to insert liners when my CCP thought a diaper rush creme was needed. (It doesn't wash out of the material). I bought a few roles of Kushies Diaper liners.
Overall, I would think AIO are best suited for Daycare.

We used AIO's.

for the younger stage where I didn't have to dump poos (she was ebf), I preferred snap diapers so I could just dump the bag in the washer without folding back laundry tabs for velcro. We used side snap Baybee diapers.

As she outgrew those and after we were up to XL Baybees and still needed bigger (She grew big fast), we got some side snap Very Baby's with snap in soakers in birdseye. We also got some Bumkins. Some teachers preferred the snaps and some liked the velcro, so we had some of both! Then eventually was Bumkins only. We also had a couple of velcro Very Baby's too.

All options were cotton/birds eye/bamboo inners. So I didn't have to worry too much about how much diaper cream was used and so she would feel wet when she pee'd (since we EC'd at home).

We use BG AIOs or pockets prestuffed. They're a lot like sposies, so they don't give daycare a headache. They've worked great for us over the past year daycare has used them

I would think that a pocket or AIO diaper with velcro would be the easiest b/c they are most like disposables. I dislike AIOs b/c they take forever to dry and I don't see how a pocket is that much different from an AIO. I would send the pocket diaper to daycare prestuffed so it is ready to go. If only I could find a daycare that would allow cloth diapers. All the daycares I've used have said for "sanitary" reasons they only allow disposables.

Anything with a velcro closure is pretty easy for daycare. A lot of people like BG, I think they seem a lot like disposables because the tabs are stretchy like disposables. There are some AIOs that have snap in soakers, so they don't take forever to dry.

We use pockets (that I stuff at home) or AIOs. Our daycare hasn't had a problem with any of them. We have mostly snaps but do have some velco too. A majority of our dipes are Fuzzi Bunz or Swaddlebees.

The one thing I would think about pockets with fleece (or stay dry AIO's) is that they may start to repel. If you don't use them at home, then it will be dicovered at daycare and they may not be pleased.
The long drying time of AIOs would annoy me.
For that reason, I would probably pick sized AI2s (like bottombumpers) or pockets with cotton or bamboo inners (Rainshine Designs offers different inner material, and her diapers seem well liked).

We did prestuffed pocket dipes and daycare never had an issue. I'd bring in a stack of them, folded up like a tidy pile of sposies and they would send home a Bummis bag filled with folded up dirty dipes. I always prefered snaps so we never did a velcro dipe at daycare. In fact, mine so impressed the daycare workers that I have hopes that some even considered cloth Mine were a mix of Fuzzi Bunz and WAHM brand whose name I can't remember (hey, it's been 3 years )

I am really impressed that so many of y'all use snap diapers at daycare. I used Velcro with dd (Bumkins and BumGenius) and they worked fine but I disliked having to disentangle everything at the end of the day, since they never used the laundry tabs. If I could get away with buying a dozen Re-uz'm AIO's in size medium and some trim doublers to go under the soaker pads, that would only cost me about $200 and would last a very long time. It would be SO GREAT not to have to worry about diaper chains!

I use BG 3.0. They do great with them. I converted them to snaps. So it is a little harder to get them to put them on tight enough. But for the most part, all goes well!

We used a snap fitted with a velcro cover. None of the daycare workers had ever seen cloth diapers before so I had to show them all (they float around to help with things like diaper changes and stuff) how to use them. There were some learning curves (like putting the onsie inside the cover), but nothing too bad.

The only annoying thing was that they insisted on putting each cloth diaper into it's own grocery bag (like the disposables) and then into the wet bag I brought.
