Just needed that to be quoted, no matter where this gets moved to.

Since I have extreme anxiety, I know I'm gonna worry either way, if I do or if I don't. I just need more information. Asia's two-month appt. is tomorrow, and she is all set up to get her immunizations, but I need to make up my mind fast if I'm not going to do it.

Who here vaccinates or doesn't vaccinate and why?
We selectively vax, and on our own schedule. Do not make a rash decision, you do not need to get vaxes tomorrow if you are not sure. Never do something because you think you"have to", do it because it is what you believe to be in the best interest and that you feel you have made an informed decision. I agree with the above poster - you can always do them later but you cannot take one back.

We selectively vax because we have one son with Autism and one son with developmental delays due to an accident before birth. We also have our own schedule and we do not do the Varicella vax at all! We do MMR seperated and at a much older age.

Good luck! There is a lot of good information out there about not vaxing, delayed vaxing and selectively vaxing.

Take care!

No way! I do NOT vaccinate in any way, shape, or form. I did with my first and she had a horrible reaction, so we cut them off abruptly when DD1 was 3 and DD2 was almost 1. DS is 3 weeks old and has not and never will receive any vaccines barring something unforeseeable happens.
Especially with boys and the testosterone in them kind of setting them up for more problems than girls, we are not even going to risk it. Luckily, we found a pediatrician who is totally cool with us not vaxxing.
To be fair, we also don't do eyedrops, circumcision, VitK injections, etc. I have faith that my baby is perfect the way he was born and I don't need to alter his body in order for him to be healthy. It's such a weird thought to me that people feel they need to do things to their children to make them okay for survival. When did that thought become mainstream?
Anyway, hope you're taking it slow on your decision. It's a big one and there are definitely risks. And no, you don't have to have vaccines to go to public schools. Just an exemption form. Which you can find online.

We vaccinate fully and on schedule and without fear. I am a hippie about a lot of things but not that. There is no proven link to autism and although, yes, there are occasional adverse reaction that is true for almost ever medical procedure. Vaccinations are very important from a public health. DH's uncle is severly crippled and mentally disabled from Polio as a child. My sister was very, very ill from chicken pox as a child. I am grateful that we live in the first world and have access.

Personally, I do think that autism will be proven to have a link to our environment. Probably persistent chemical exposure in our air, water, food supply, or beds.

And yes, a minority of this site. =)

Nope

We didn't vax. DD will be four this month and has had no shots. We would be open to a partial, delayed schedule if we were to travel out of the country where there might acutally be some health risks that could be vaccinated against. Other than that, we are happy to sight "religious objections" and keep the LO chemi free.
