Finding a diaper pail...

I'm not sure why this is so difficult for me to find... my DH is adamant that we not use a hanging bag for diapers, so I need a pail, but I have specific requirement for a pail. We have some random garbage can that is exactly what I'm looking for, and I know it was a drug store purchase, but I've been looking for months and can't find anything similar now for under about $100.

I want a foot-lift lid, and a lift out inner bucket/liner. Those shouldn't be such major requirements, but apparently they are. I'd steal the one we already have, but it's being used for the dirty kitty litter, so I think it's better off where it is.

Has anyone seen a pail or garbage can similar to this for a reasonable price?

We have garbage cans at work that are exactly that- they're pretty big- probably 3 feet tall and a foot across, and have the inner liner.

We got them at Costco.

We had one like that it was a tall kitchen size siliver outter with a black plastic inner bucket. It was not cheep and honestly turned out to not be our favorite choice.
Our prefered choice http://www.amazon.com/Sterilite®-qt-.../dp/B001KYDUCU lined with a cloth pail liner it was the perfect size easy to use and washed dried beautifully.

I just have a basic Rubbermaid plastic trash can/hamper I got at Wal-Mart or Target or somewhere like that a long time ago. I remember using it for my DD's laundry when she was little (she's now 9 years old). It has a lid and a foot pedal to lift the lid. It doesn't have a lift out pail but I just have a basic diaper pail liner in it that I throw in the wash each time.

Mine looks like the shorter can in this picture. http://www.rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid...d=HPProd280095

Mine's just a trashcan with a swinging lid lined with a laundry bag, I can throw the laundry bag in the wash with the diapers, so the can itself never stinks =) At some point I should probably try to find an actual diaper bag, but the laundry bag is working for me atm =)

I have been wondering about regular laundry bags from wal-mart. So much cheaper! I guess it holds up well in the wash?

Not to highjack this thread, but do the basic trash cans keep the smells away? Ours will be in our bedroom, so definitely an issue, LOL!

The regular laundry bags don't actually fit in the 13 gallon trash cans, you have to find the mondo sized laundry bags or use a smaller can =)

We use a regular "kitchen" step-lid style garbage bin with a pul diaper pail liner in it and it works great (I love my Planetwise pail liners). I tied a ribbon around the lid hinge with a folded swatch of fabric over it, hanging inside, so I can put tea tree or lavender oil on it to keep it smelling nice. Ours is also in our bedroom and this works well.

It also helps to leave the lid open for the first half-full of the pail. Sounds counter intuitive, but by doing that, the ammonia smell from sitting dipes is almost nil.
