the word "shots"

Does that irritate anyone? When you head to the dr's and the nurse says "do you need any shots, or what shots do you need today". I've never heard a doctor or nurse replace the word "vaccine" with the word "shots". Is it to make them not seem so bad or something?

It's supposed to disconnect you from considering what is in them, making the only concern the child's discomfort from the needle itself. A lot of things work that way in this world, made to keep you from looking deeper. People think I'm a freak for looking past all that stuff.

Yep. But "Immunizations" bugs me more, because they whether or not they actually cause immunity is up for debate.

I also dislike the possesive versions. As in "my baby got her shots today." Like you might as well inject your child, because these BELONG to her anyway.

The term "shots" isn't used in Australia. Occasionally you will hear "jabs" but it is usually "immunisations" which annoys me for it's inaccuracy.

My peeve is the "her" or "his" shots. They don't belong to the child. They belong to the doctor and big pharma.

Next time a doc asks me what shots my son needs I'm going to reply...."He is too young to drink!!"

I think you all are over thinking this.
