so I'm 40 + 1 and I've seen here and there things about acupressure and labor..... does anyone have details on how that works, why it works, who has done it, can I do it to myself, how did it effect your birth, positives, negatives, etc. and anything else helpful!!

thanks

I do it. Well acupuncture, but the work a lot of the same points.

What it does is it moves energy downward. It is most effective in situations where the water has broken but contractions haven't started, in labor when you want to make the most of each contraction or when you are over due.

It usual takes 1-3 sessions to get things going. When I do it, I usually feel contractions or lots of baby movement for a few hours afterward.

Anecdotally people say it makes their labor faster, with the birth of my son I did have a fast opening phase ( I just pushed for a long time).
