Vegan "beef" broth recipe?

Dh bought t.v.p chunks forever ago and the only thing I can think of making is "beef" stew with potatoes/carrots/peas and dumplings BUT I can't find fake beef broth powder

What would you use to season the broth? TIA!

I use a little vegemite or marmite dissolved in water.

I use Better Than Bouillon. I get the vegetarian Veggie Broth and one day accidentally grabbed the vegetarian No Beef Base. It's definitely perfect for that. I'm looking at the ingridients right now and it looks to be vegan. Only potentially questionable one would be the last 3 ("natural flavors", maltodextrim, caramel color). I use a ton of the veggie one and thinking the no beef one was veggie used the same amount and boy can it be strong! I love this brand. Definitely worth getting one to try.

Use miso or some mushroom broth.

I know you ask about beef, but I too bought the "Better Than Bouillon" No Chicken Base. It is really good! I use it for "no chicken noodle soup" -- vegetable soup...etc

I know you ask about beef, but I just wanted to say the brand "Better Than Bouillon," is really good. Again, only questionable ingredient is natural flavor.

Also, autolyzed yeast extract is MSG in case you're sensitive to it.

There is MSG in almost all prepared foods.  It is called by countless names.  About the only way to avoid it is to make everything from scratch.

I've been making my veggie broth from scratch for awhile. It was nowhere as good as Better than Boullion, but it's gluten free (BTB has soy sauce that contains wheat) and MSG free (as stated BTB has autolyzed yeast.) My broth was alright, but just not the same. Then I got a cast iron dutch oven. My broth is so much better. It's amazing the difference the pot makes.

So, I suggest getting a 9 quart cast iron dutch oven and trying that.

I'm always using Bryanna's chicken broth version http://fatfreevegan.com/blog/2010/11/01/bryannas-homemade-vegan-chicken-style-broth-powder/

Maybe there's a way to make it 'beefy'?

Saute 5-8 cloves of garlic in oil.  Add a good splash of red wine (maybe 1/4 cup).  Add some salt.  Let the wine reduce a little.  Add about 1-2 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of onion powder and some herbs (sage, rosemary, thyme, oregano - which ever ones you like best).  Add more salt if needed, and some pepper.  You can also add some juice from canned tomatoes if desired.  It tastes good, but I haven't had beef broth in so long that I'm not sure if it's a good imitation of it.

This is pretty much what I do, except I might use some veggie broth instead of water and a splash of tamari.
