Questions about baby penises

Soo....I only have experience with circumcised adult penises. I understand how those penises work. I am having a boy in February and I have a few questions.

I found out a few years ago that little boys can get erections, too. (I always thought that boys could only get them after puberty!) I am under the assumption that when an adult male's uncirc'ed penis is erect, the foreskin will retract itself because the penis gets bigger...If a baby gets an erection and his foreskin is still unretractable...what happens?

Also...I have a daughter already, so I'm only used to yoni's. I carry her on my hip a lot. Wouldn't this hurt a baby boy's testicles? I know on a man it's a sensitive place, and I'm afraid of hurting my son.

Thanks!

I only had my DS in May, but when his penis is erect no, the forskin does not retract since its still attached.
As far as hip holding, i do it, he does not seem to mind, plus they have diapers on as padding. My mom always carried my brother this way too and he has no problems.

I'm no expert since my son is only 11 weeks old, but here is what I have observed:

He does get erections, and it seems the foreskin is roomy enough to accomidate the whole penis without retracting in the slightest, or getting uncomfortibly tight.

I haul him around by carrying him one hand behind his head and one hand between his legs all day(what else is there to hold on to?) with no discomfort on his part. Of course he is in a cloth diaper so that bulks up the area a bit...if that matters?

Yes they get a little morning "woodie" as we call it. We practice EC, and things aren't cover up with a diaper all the time, so we notice this when he is sleepy and/or has to pee. The skin doesn't retract, but when it is hard there is no extra "baggy" skin anywhere. It's all tight. And it makes me wonder what a circ'd baby boy's penis is like when it is hard, do they have enough skin left to accommodate for their little erection? Poor little guys.

Anyway, I've never had a problem carrying my boy on my hip. Things seem to shift around on their own, and maybe it gets a little squished, but nothing gets hurt, and he doesn't act like it's uncomfortable.

It blows up .

But seriously, nothing happens. Foreskin is VERY stretchy.

I dont know about others here but my ds's foreskin will stretch nearly to his belly button depending on him sitting or standing. So when he has an erection (and boys have these in utero on through life) there is more than enough skin so that retraction isnt even needed at all. It does get tighter and the overhang disappears but no retraction at all even though I know for a fact he is at least 1/4 retractable via seeing him do it.

Something that I have noticed is that the testicles are not as easily hurt when they are little as they are when they are older. I asked dh about this after seeing ds grab both testicles and twist and tug them all over the place with no pain. Dh told me it was because they are able to move more and get out of the way during this kind of thing. Not sure if that is why but holding them on your hip dosnt hurt them at all at least never did with my ds or any other boy I have seen being carried around.

Little boys can be so rough on themselves. I caught my DS standing on a chair trying to streatch his forskin around the door handle of the oven. DH cringes all the time when he sees how rough our boys are on their parts. Carrying them on my hip is not a problem diaper or not.

As an infant if he isn't retractable nothing will happen. As an adult it will depend on the length of the various components. In some cases an erection will pull the foreskin all the way back for others it won't.

Wow, thanks for all the replies! You are all very helpful!

Even some intact men don't full retract once erect. Intact boys/babies still remain "covered" when erect. My 10 year old son, for instance, is not yet retractable but I assume he has occasional erections (as he did when he was little).

Also, my husband says that boys' testicles aren't very sensitive until puberty, and we have never, ever had a problem carrying our boy around the waist and he has almost NEVER complained of pain in that area, not from riding bikes, climbing on things, playing, and tripping or falling while doing these things. Of course, after puberty, that's a very different thing but I can't imagine a teenage boy letting you carrying him on your hip.

Yep, pretty much what everyone else said We wear our DS all the time and we have never had issues with his privates getting hurt.

Along the lines of what rissie said, I think you'll notice quite a few erections (ours are pretty much daily), and they may occur at a pretty regular time. If, for instance, I need to change my son's diaper at night, he has an erection 99.9% of the time. All it really looks like, as PP have said, is like the "baggy" skin is tightening up. He is only 15 months old and (as is the norm) not retractable yet, but I can tell you...it certainly does not hurt him!!!

ETA: LOL!!!! at MyBoysBlue...that is SOOOO funny!!!

Oh, my - does that sound familiar! One of my boys once caught his in a Rubiks Cube, and I suspect he was actually trying to use the cube's twisting action to pull his foreskin all the way around it. I'm astonished at how far they'll stretch.

Hello! I had a girl then a boy and was in a similar situation as you.

Yes, they do get "baby boners," as I always called them. A lot at diaper time...probably because of the cold. The foreskin never retracted on me-- I hear it often doesn't until age five. We're at age 3 and it hasn't yet.

If the baby is in a diaper, it won't hurt his testicles. Now that my son is in undies, he'll let me know. Today, while at the store, I had him in "death grip" on my hip (for trying to get into things while I was shopping) and he did scream, loudly, YOU'RE HURTING MY WEINER!!!!

When that's the case, you just shift him around.

Poor little dude but : at his little voice echoing through the store.

IIRC, my dh has said that the testicles don't become super-sensitive until puberty when the hormones kick in. Which is a very good thing given how rough kids can be in playing!

But I can definitely tell you that boys can be carried around on your hip, even naked, with no pain problems.

Sounds like something my boys would do!

DS's foreskin just seems to stretch when he gets an erection. No big deal.
