Hi
My name is Paige, I am 25 and expecting my first baby around Thanksgiving...a girl!! We have recently decided on doing a home birth and are still trying to get finances and insurance in order. I am a bit concerned because I am not sure if my insurance will cover anything, and we are a bit strapped for cash at the moment :. I can't wait to meet you all and learn more about home birth.

Hi Paige,

I don't normally post in here but noticed the big Howdy from Texas! We are in Houston but would rather still be in Austin! Gosh how we love that place!! But welcome and I hope you enjoy finding your way around! Be sure and visit your Due Date club! That will be fun for you!!

Hi Paige! I'm about an hour from Austin, in the Killeen/Ft. Hood area... which was recently described as "Spankerville" by another MDC mama on here. That's not entirely inaccurate, trust me!

(or was it SpankerLAND? Now I have to go back and see....)

In any case, WELCOME and congrats on the baby girl!!

Welcome to Mothering! Good luck on pursuing a homebirth. I have three girls, the last of which was born at home, and it was a wonderful experience for us. Keep us posted on how things are going for you!

Hi Paige! Welcome to MDC from a fellow Texan!

Just fyi, when I had my homebirth, it wasn't covered by my insurance at all (although some insurance companies do cover midwifery care and/or homebirth). However, many midwives will work out a payment plan for you. My mw gave me a discount for paying all the fees upfront. Also, save all your receipts. Often times you can deduct out of pocket medical expenses from your taxes.

Hi Paige!

Best wishes for your homebirth! I had my second at home with a midwife in Bryan-College Station. Couldn't have wished for a better experience.

Welcome to MDC
