Interior Decoration Question

My rooms upstairs are the old attic style rooms--the A-frame with slanted walls. There is a lot of slant--more than usual, I think.

When you paint, are you only supposed to put color on the vertical walls and not the slant? (If I do this, there would be very little color).

Should I paint the vertical and slanted walls all the same color? (That seems like it would feel to boxed-in).

Should I paint the vertical a deep color (say a deep lavender). And then paint the slanted part a very light pastel lavender? (This is what I'm thinking...but not too sure).

I'm a white-wall-hater. I need color...but I'm unsure about the A-frame rooms.

Our old house had 2 bedrooms upstairs like that and they were unfortunately covered with horrible dark brown wood paneling! ugh! The rooms were like caves (only 1 window each as well). We always intended to drywall but hadn't when we decided to sell. Instead, we painted the rooms a light warm off white almondish color - we did it all the same color - vertical, slanted and ceiling. It looked great! We also ripped out the carpet and restained the old fir floors in a very dark ebony color (because they were somewhat damaged so this would hide the stains). The combo was gorgeous and we wished we hadn't waited until right before selling to do it!

We have the same thing in our house. It's a 1.5 story home so the upstairs bedrooms have slanted ceilings. I plan on painting all walls and ceiling the same colour. Haven't decided yet on the colours, but know that I want something light and airy to cut back on the cave feeling. I'm thinking light green, blue, yellow, cream...

Our end walls are paneled :blech with a window in the middle.
The ceiling is acoustical tile in "aged white".
The walls, vertical and slant, are light yellow for dd, tan for ds and in need of repainting.

The slants are very, very easy to reach with feet while in bed so I would pick a color to match the dirt on the bottom of the child's foot. On a more positive note, there isn't room for jumping on the beds.

I too wonder about a light color on the slant but ended up with shade I would have chosen for the slant on the whole wall. The previous owner wall papered the vertical and painted the slant.

I just paint the walls, the slant & the ceiling all the same colour. Quite frankly the room is always going to feel small 'cause the ceiling is so low & I find in one colour it calls less attention to it.

our entire upstairs is our master bedroom (1935 cape cod style house).

you can see it here.....

we painted it all the same color so as to visually keep the 'clutter' down. i prefer a peaceful space for bedrooms.

I would paint it all the lighter version of the colour. Darker colour on the angled ceiling will make it look smaller and two different colours will chop the space up.

This what I would do.

I'd probably paint the whole space the same color first and see what I liked and disliked about it. Darkening up the vertical part would be an easy change to make later, if you decided you needed more variety.

I have a room that has the sloping ceiling. I was thinking of painting the vertical walls a slightly darker colour than the ceiling.
