Take me off the "wanting to go into labor" list...sigh

I guess I need to remove myself from the "I want to go into labor NOW list" as much as it pains me to do so. I got home from work today to find Connor still napping, which is odd, not wanting to ruin his bedtime I went to wake him up. I immediately discovered why he was still napping...he has a 102 fever under the arm

He's on day 9 of a 10 day course of antibiotics for a pussy draining ear infection already, so I'm not sure what to think of this new fever. He's very lethargic, won't sit or stand, will nurse but won't eat or drink. I put him down so I could change clothes and he immediately went back to sleep on my bed. No obvious reason for the fever, no cough, no more ear drainage (that ended on day 5 or 6).

It could be a long night if he's sick all night, or he could sleep it off overnight and wake up just fine. I have no idea since I can't put my finger on what's wrong in the first place!! I am slightly on guard because he has a primary immune deficiency (t-cell deficit, b-cell dysfunction) so he's very prone to illness and side effects from illnesses. We've never had a fever pop up WHILE on antibiotics before, we've had fevers come back a day or two after ending a round of antibiotics (which usually means it was the wrong antibiotic) so this is new for him.

I need a day or two with him, so labor would NOT be welcome right now

oh no! How scary. I hope Connor feels better sooner rather than later.

Awww..... poor Connor and poor mama!

I hope he's on the mend by morning and that you can feel comfortable birthing soon!

Oh, I hope your little guy feels better soon! That is odd that he'd get a fever after his infection is almost gone. I'd probably take him in just to verify it isn't the flu or something. Poor baby! Take care of yourself, too! You are such a good mama!

(My DS had roseola several days ago. We had taken him in, and all tests they ran were negative. The rash comes after they are over it, so of course we had no idea until then. It was good to know it wasn't the flu, though!)

I did call the nurse line at our ped's office, unfortunately got the not-so-helpful-nurse who tertly told me that they had no more appts tonight, so if I was worried I should take him to ER or urgent care. I tried to describe what was going on and give a bit of his history, but she didn't seem interested. I asked for an appt tomorrow morning if he was still doing badly, but she said that I had to call back tomorrow at 8am.

SIGH.

He did puke on me once, but he tends to do that when his fever goes up, whether he has a tummy bug or not (it's an autonomic reflex for him). He's laying on my bed right now, compeltely lethargic and burning up I'm going to dose up some motrin for him soon to try to help him through the night.

Of course Ian chose tonight to have an emotional meltdown, and my husband sent me a text and an email about some problems he's having at work (he's student teaching this semester, finally getting close to finishing his degree!) so I'm feeling completely taxed right now!!! I doubt this baby is coming anytime in the next few days now, I need to get everything under control better first.

Now I feel horrible because over the weekend Connor was sleeping really poorly. He was waking up several times a night and although my husband tried, he couldn't Connor back to sleep. Connor only wanted to nurse. I was getting extremely frustrated with Connor and one night even put him to bed crying at 3am because I was DONE with him. Of course now I know why he was having rough nights, he was building up to being sick!! Hindsight is 20/20 of course, and I can't blame myself, I handled him as best I could at the time, but now I feel guilty

And we're having ANOTHER baby soon! Yay! <sarcasm>

sorry to hear that he's having a hard time.
as for the title of your thread -- definitely take you off the list of going into labor when you "wanted" it.
you just have to believe that things will work out for the best, and maybe this is why you haven't had the baby just yet.
personally, my labor worked out *just right* in terms of timing. couldn't have been any better if i had tried. and i didn't try at all, just took it as it came.
good luck with your son Connor.

Sorry, I updated in special needs, but not here!

Last night was rough, he would sleep in 30 minute increments in his own bed, then nurse for 20 minutes or so, then sleep again. Until 3:30am...then he slept for a two hour chunk, but woke up at 5:30 burning up again. Sleep was in short increments then until 8am when I just gave up and got up.

The nanny was here today, she and I traded off holding him and just doing things around the house. I did go into work to pick up my laptop and wireless network card so I could work some and not have to charge a whole day of vacation time before the baby comes.

Connor slept from 3pm-4:30pm this afternoon, his fever is hovering still at 102 under the arm most of the time.

Still no symptoms at all...no ear drainage, no runny nose, no cough, he's not complaining of anything specific like a headache or tummy ache. Just a high fever. When his fever spikes, he's limp as a doll and he sometimes pukes, but that's very typical for him, just how his body reacts to a fever.

I had two contractions that I was aware of last night, both times it jerked me out of a sleep with Connor attached nursing, so I quickly took him off and put him to bed, not wanting to stimulate my body anymore! LOL! No contractions today that I've noticed.

(((Hugs))) It's so hard when you don't know what is going on with the little ones. Hope he feels better soon!
