Arg, Yeast!

I've had a problem with yeast throughout my whole life and used to do the whole diflucan thing when it got really bad. Then I finally got educated and adjusted my diet and added probiotics, etc. I've done A LOT better since then and throughout my pregnancy I haven't had to deal too much with yeast. I'm at 38w1d today and had an internal exam and my midwife said she could tell I had some yeast. I sort of suspected since I had run out of acidophilus and it took me a few days to get some more. She suggested getting some Yeastgard which is a natural product without boric acid but the coop in my area doesn't carry it and the pharmacy said it's discontinued. I'd really like to nip this in the bud before it becomes an all out issue...thrush when nursing is TERRIBLE!

So does anyone have any natural ideas? I really want to avoid gentian violet because of the stain factor. I have also used tea tree oil in the past - does anyone know if that is going to be too abrasive right now?

Any ideas? Thanks so mucH!

I have used a peeled clove of garlic internally and it's worked really well for me in the past. Usually I only need it for a couple of nights/days. I switch it out for a fresh one every 12 hours or so or if it comes out during a BM. Some people sew a thread through the clove and leave it hanging outside the body so they can pull it out more easily- I've always managed to reach it without doing that, but in late pregnancy it might be hard! I'm sorry, yeast sucks!

I've had yeast issues my ENTIRE 3rd trimester. I have never had yeast issues before in my life. I tried Yeast Gard with no luck. I use Monistat daily or every other day and that keeps it away. Nothing else worked. I am taking acidophilus 3x daily. I tried vinegar, yogurt, etc. I'm planning to take Diflucan after birth because I just don't want to end up dealing with thrush.
