what does your dc sleep in and night nursing ?

I'm just curious what everyone does. Those footed sleepers with the snaps are a PITA for middle of the night diaper changes. The halo sleep sack seems like over kill. I'm trying to find a middle ground.

Does anyone have any tips for night nursing? I'm still having to get out of bed because I can't get DS to latch on in the dark and turning on the light wakes DH. Will DS eventually learn to latch on with out help? I can nurse just fine laying down during our day time naps but at night it's impossible.

I am a fan of infant gowns for sleeping.

We actually keep our closet light on at night. I need to be able to see what I'm doing too. Get your dh a sleep mask if he is sensitive

I use footie sleepers and just deal with the snaps.

Olivine will latch on just fine on her own, which she's pretty much done from birth. Sometimes I have to feel around for her mouth and then sort of aim the nipple in the right area, but she always catches it herself. I sleep in total darkness. It took me a while to learn how to do this with my first baby.. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon.

DS has been sleeping in onesies, since it's just not that cold here and we have been co-sleeping. DS latches pretty well but we have a night in the room which does help.

I've been putting her in a goodmama at night with a wool or fleece cover and not having to change her at night. its awesome. She usually wears a cotton sleeper or a cotton shirt, and that's it. Its not cold here though.

as for night nursing, I put the bathroom light on and open the door to my bedroom a crack. Its just enough light to get her latched on with out me feeling like I'm sleeping with the lights on.

Jackson either sleeps in a open bottom gown or a zip up sleeper. Snaps are a PITA for night time changes. As for night time feedings I get up and we go to the couch or glider. I have very large breasts and when they are full he has a hard time latching on while lying down, plus he chokes everytime on the milk during my let-down. I don't think I can move fast enough to burp him if we are lying down.

We get up and go to the couch too!! Jack wears onesies or open bottom gowns. It is pretty warm here so he can get away with onesies and being swaddled at this point. We go to the couch because he cannot latch in the dark at all!!

Take care!!

I love the open bottom gowns for easy access (and cuteness factor) and we use those cool oxo rechargeable night lights and they rock. Just enough light...

We usually put Ryden in a onesie without it snapped in the bottom or just a shirt and his diaper. As for nursing, I nurse laying down and we keep the tv on all night. My husband will turn the volume down before he falls asleep and the light is just enough to see what I'm doing, but not too much to fall back asleep. The funny thing is... when I was pregnant I would always complain about him leaving the tv on and now, if he goes to turn it off, I yell at him not to.

Ds sleeps in his onsie or tshirt swaddled in a thin blanket. The poor guy still wakes up drenched in sweat sometimes because it is really warm here. I go to the living room to nurse because I can't get comfortable with the sidelying position, and ds latches poorly in that position

Maybe it's weird, but I've done this with all of my kids when they're this small. I just let them sleep in whatever they were wearing that day. I only have soft clothes (no babyjeans etc), there's no difference between sleepwear and daywear for the baby so I just figure: why change clothes. I change his outfit when he's had a bath or when it's stained/dirty.
And I don't change diapers at night (we use disposable now) unless he pooped. It only wakes him up.
For nursing, I keep a light on so I can see him.

Generally hee just sleeps in whatever he had on during the day, minus pants. Occasionally, I'l put him in one of those infant gown things (the thing with just sleeves and no pants, but goes down over his legs...). We use lava lamps for night lights to see in the dark...

Fiona sleeps in a diaper. Sometimes with a t-shirt or a onesie. Always swaddled.

She sleeps in bed with us. As for night nursing, we have a dimmer on our lightswitch, so for the first week or two, I left the light on SUPER-dim (you could barely even tell if her eyes were open or closed, but it was enough to see where her mouth was in the middle of the night)--it didn't bother any of us, and it gave me just that tiny bit of light I needed to be able to tell what I was doing. After a week or two, we had figured one another out enough to leave the light off. Occasionally, if I'm having trouble latching her on in the dark, I just put my finger right next to my nipple so I can find her mouth, and then just slip my finger out before she latches on (if that makes sense).

outfits- ds wears a onsie (with light baby blanket wrapped around him from chest down) or footed sleeper all day. If it's clean he wears it to bed, though I agree the snappy ones are a pain! We often pick an open bottom gown if we're doing an evening (or night!) clothing change. DS spits up a lot so we do change clothes frequently... maybe 3-4x a day... but all his clothing is ok for day or night. When it gets colder we'll use sleep sacks.

nursing- we have a Peter Penguin nightlight from Target (it's in automotive if you want to find one). The little penguin stands on an ice berg (recharging base) and his belly glows amber. But if the power goes out or you take him off the iceberg his belly glows white. We got one as a night time buddy/bathroom trip flashlight for dd1 and she loves it! So we got a second one for next to my side of the bed. The amber glow doesn't wake anyone and the white light is enough to get the latch right. at our last house I left the hall light on and the bedroom door open a bit, which is what I do at hotels (leave the bathroom light on and that door slightly open). My oversupply meanse have to nurse sitting up right now, which stinks, but hopefully as ds gets bigger we can side nurse again!

diapers- we sposie at night but change his dipe with every nursing session, so roughly every two hours. And if he poops we change dipes too of course. When he is bigger/older and wetting/pooping less at night we'll switch to cloth and change fewer night dipes.

I usually just keep Emma in the onesie she wore during the day unless it needs to be changed because of spit-up or other bodily functions

t's still warm here as well so the onesie seems to be perfect since she lays right next to me. I usually keep our window air conditioner on low so we won't sweat to death because it seems her body heat and mine together keep things pretty toasty! I think once it get colder I will put her in one of those sleep sacks so she keeps warm because we have poor heating in our house.

As far as nursing I am still having a really hard time latching her on correctly when we are laying down, does anyone have any tips on this?? I know it must get a bit easier, I can do it sometimes during the day because I have more light to see and more patience but not always. I wish we had a bigger bed I think it would make things easier as well, but we are considering getting a twin size mattress and box springs to lay besides our queen (that is on the floor) and then I could lay on the twin and dh and ds (when he comes into our room at night) would have more room on the queen because my ds is a wiggle worm!!

As far as diaper changes go I change her each time she wakes up to nurse so about every 2 hours or more.

Kingsley sleeps in a gown like this I love them because of the no snap factor. No need to make life more difficult.
As for the light, i have a lamp that's not to bright that i turn on. I don't really have sympathy for dh. If he wakes up that just means he has to change the diaper So needless to say, he usually keeps his eyes and mouth shut.

Silas sleeps (well and lives in) cloth diapers w/ shirts and baby legwarmers. I do use a diaper cover at night.

We also use a nightlight and/or move to the couch depending on the night. We aren't doing much lying-down nursing though.

With ODD, I had all the of the fancy babyjeans and such and now with Molly I'm finding i only want to put the soft comfies on her- I wear her so much of the time that the buttons, snaps etc. would be just as uncomfy to me as they would be to her, so she spends the day in a onsie and cotton pants and usually sleeps in that too- or minus the pants and usually her bottom half is swaddled (arms free). I have a nightlight on my side of the bed so I can see- though is getting better and better at latching herself on- but it is dim enough not to bother DH.

I was using those open bottom outfits, and hthey are very generously cut around the neck that I can pull them off down his body instead of over his head and it doesn't wake him up as much. But lately we have just been using onsies.

Our bedroom is off of the kitchen so I just turn the light on over the stove and leave the bedroom door open a crack. It is just light enough. I don't really need the light anymore, but we did at first when we were getting used to co sleeping night nursing. We are all good now.

He sleeps in a diaper and light blanket (but we're in FL so it's still warm here). We have night lights on either side of the bed which works for side nursing and our main light fixture in the room is on a dimmer so we have it set to the lowest it will go for diaper changes or pottying.
