I must be out of the loop because I just learned about this. I'm heartbroken.

Dirty Dancing was THE film that started me dancing. Heck, I even performed the end choreography for a dance history course.

RIP Patrick Swayze. We know you fought hard

I saw this last night. Yet another nail in the coffin of my childhood

The first time I saw Patrick Swayze was from Red Dawn actually. I love/loved the movie. I was only 7 years old at the time but it was still so good. Freaked me out, of course, but I still loved it.
The next time was Dirty Dancing. It was the summer my father died, there was a ton of people staying at our house for funeral and afterwards. All the young girls, myself included, had a slumber party and watched Dirty Dancing. I couldn't understand why all the older girl were swooning over Patrick Swayze I was just in love with the music and dancing. Well, I was 10 at the time. Go figure
I figured out why almost 10 years later when I saw a rerun of Dirty Dancing on the movie channel. What an incredibly talented, beautiful man. Seriously, he was incredibly hot.
I loved all his movies, I always found him to be such a wonderfully refreshing man. The fact that he was married to him wife longer than I've been alive, how he stayed out of trouble, there was never an controversy around him.
Unless you count "To Wong Foo, thanks for everything" where he played a fabulous drag-queen. Even then, it was a great movie! I rewatched it not long ago, it was still fun.
Of all the celebrities to died in the past year, his death hurts the most for me.

Rest in peace and without pain, Patrick Swayze. You were well loved.

Peace to you, Patrick Swazye.

The Outsiders and Dirty Dancing are two of my all time favorite movies (I've watched them both countless times).

I know what you mean about another piece of your childhood gone. When I was in Girl Scouts (~7-11), we watched "DD" (that's what we called it ) at every sleepover, and all we listened to was the soundtrack.

If there is a heaven, I like to think that Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze are performing the Chippendales skit, and my grandpa is in the audience cracking up.

I love Patrick Swayze. I am so sorry that he is gone.
I really hope to find a copy of Dirty Dancing soon, that was my All-Time fave of all movies!
And I look forward to going to the hotel where the movie was filmed when we take our vacation. I live about 3 1/2 hrs. away, so at least we can drive there!
R.I.P Patrick! You will never be forgotten!

Patrick will always be the wild & free Bodhi to me, going where the waves take him. We've been on a celebrate the life of Patrick Swayze kick here, we've watched Point Break, and have numerous other movies of his on our que (apparently half of australia does too, considering the wait) and I had hubby buy his song 'She's like the wind' which has always been a personal favourite.

Normally actors/musicians dying doesn't really affect me at all... but I think he was different because he was true to himself, and true to his wife of 35yrs. I think he is truly the first 'celeb' I ever shed a tear for, and by all accounts he was an amazing man. My heart so goes out to his wife, how does one go on? I can't imagine

the man fought long and hard, lived a lifetime AFTER his diagnosis. Many Pancreatic cancer patients die within weeks or even days from diagnosis. My Mother survived 7 nonths from her diagnosis - LONG byt the standard fo that horrific disease, Patrick survived well beyond what most do with Pancreattic cancer. I applaud and honor his life and his death. I hope tha tif he sees my mom in the "pancreatic cancer support room" beyond this world that he says hi...

Absolultey Mommy Stormraven. My grandfather died 3months after his diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. It is a brutal disease, but Patrick seemed to kick it's butt for SO long after the announcement that he had it.

And if he see's your mom there...I hope he asks her to dance
