Advice for a long posterior labor

Thread Starter
I've been having pretty intense contractions since Saturday night, and it has been stop and go- as many as every 4 minutes, as few as 1 or 2 an hour, but never completely stopping. Before Saturday I was hovering around 4 cm dilated, and now I'm at a 5-6. My baby is lying posterior, and this is probably causing the slowness and backache.

I've looked at Spinning babies, have been trying the techniques, walking as much as I can, pelvic tilts, etc. Do any mamas know any other tips for turning babies? I'm starting to feel pretty tired!

Lots of hands and knees. Hands in knees in a big pool or tub. Worked well for me.

Also, having someone put pressure on your low back helps - at least it did for me. And the water. And remember that you CAN do this!

Hands and knees during contractions helped turn mine this time around. Have you tried any homeopathic remedies?

Have you tried applying ice packs to your back? It may comfort your pain but babies don't like the sensation on the back of their heads and may turn to get more comfortable. That was one of the tips my doula trainer suggested, at any rate!
