Critique A Blog ~ MommyHawk

MommyHawk's blog is called Blissfully Beguiling: Pleasantly passing time in everyday life

As always, here are the generic questions, but she may have more specific ones for you!

Blog Critique Questions

1. What do you think of the layout? The number of columns? The colors?
2. Does my profile info read well? Does it help readers 'know' me?
3. Is the writing interesting to read?
4. Should the writing be strictly educational, or include personal posts to add some personality?
5. Is the content worth coming back for?
6. How can I bring more traffic?
7. How can I generate more comments?
8. Is there something that you feel would take my blog to the next level?

First off. Time for a new profile picture! You are cute and should probably show it a little better. It is an asset to the blog.

The description of yourself is, well, not very descriptive. Why are you a starving artist? What is an eco-warrior? Writing is what you do? Are you also a mom? Do you stay at home? These are just some questions I was thinking of as I was reading the intro. Now I know what an eco-warrior is and am getting your drift about the starving artist thing but if I were just some person of the beaten path of the internet super highway then I need to know these things!

I like your honest voice. You write mostly about writing, which is great! Especially for other people who may be in the midst writing, especially a novel. Now your header does not describe that is what you will be writing about at all. Though maybe I just jumped in to your blog at a time when you are mostly talking about writing.

Good luck with your book!

I like Raising Them Green, informative, well done.

The layout - I like the 3 column layout but the colors are a little hard on my eyes. There is too much white and it forces me to break up your text into different columns which is difficult on tired eyes. Also, the blue. OK, I hate that color but even besides that, it is too light on the white background. Add some more colors. Also, the pic you have there is washed out on my computer.

I like the profile text. I'd change the blurb about email, twitter and facebook to be 3 links or (even better) images the user can click on.

I'll look more tomorrow... It is late here.

hmmm...lots to think about...thanks ladies

I haven't been writing as of late due to my lack of inspiration (see my sig below)...so I'm hoping it'll come back soon. I added two quick blogs today and yesterday to see if I can't stir it up again!

I think I like the image links too...thanks for the advice...

now about that picture...

and I've updated my 'info' bio thingy...

working on the image buttons for fb, twit, and all that jazz...

oh, good...phew!

I like the header...looks really good! And the bio is concise but informative.

I agree with PP and say a white backgroud is hard to read.

Love the C.S. Lewis quote. I'm a huge fan of his.

hmmmm...I've always been a fan of white backgrounds...but I'll play with the coloring and see if something else would work better...

thanks!
