Critique A Blog ~ homebirthing

Thread Starter
homebirthing's blog is called Two Wooden Spoons: Life with two babies. And some other kids too.

As always, here are the generic questions, but she may have more specific ones for you!

Blog Critique Questions

1. What do you think of the layout? The number of columns? The colors?
2. Does my profile info read well? Does it help readers 'know' me?
3. Is the writing interesting to read?
4. Should the writing be strictly educational, or include personal posts to add some personality?
5. Is the content worth coming back for?
6. How can I bring more traffic?
7. How can I generate more comments?
8. Is there something that you feel would take my blog to the next level?

I guess my specific question would be how do you feel about the fact that this isn't something that I can get to everyday, or even every week. I have times (like right now) where the babies and kids are a full time job and I have to post multiple blog topics at once.

I love this blog. You're a great writer and I found myself smiling more and more as I read the baby/food/throwing-on-rug post and the drained tub post and the pictures of you guys are wonderful too.

I like the absurdist tone of being a mom of 5 that you've captured. You either laugh or cry, and it seems that you're mostly laughing.

Post when you post. You can't get to it every day and I don't think that will be an issue for most people. They'll catch up when you do. I think folks are forgiving of mom bloggers.

It would be interesting to read an "about' blurb for you. Nice blog.

I had one on there, but for whatever reason it wasn't showing up. It's up there now!

I agree with Laura, post when you have the time. Your blog is entertaining and interesting enough that your readers will come back. Here's something to remember: some people have trouble keeping up with blogs that are updated daily. Seriously, when I come across a blog I like and see that the author doesn't post more than a few times a week, I am so relieved. I do read quite a few blogs that are updated daily, but there's a limit to how many of them I can follow)...I know I can't be the only one!

I find your humorous approach very inspiring.

I like your writing! The post about Cheerios had me cracking up!

As a critique, I'd probably use a template instead of just generic white, but since almost everyone does, yours actually kind of stands out, oddly enough.

Nice job!

Love it! Love the title, the posts, the pics! Your flow is great - not rushed or laaaggggiinnnggg. Keeps me interested and I'm following you

I liked your blog - it was amusing in a very natural way and jogs memories of happy times with my own kids.

When I find a blog I like that is updated daily, I typically add it to my bookmarks and just check on it when I am playing online. When it's updated randomly, I just follow it and catch updates on my google page. Basically, I find daily and random blogs equally easy to watch because one is marked and one is brought to my attention, courtesy of google.

I also agree with the previous poster that suggested a different background. Too much white for me.

no one mentioned

I am unsure why no one mentioned it, but if you feel weird about posting multiple topics at once... don't :-) Schedule those multiple posts...I started my blog by deciding that I was going to have a post 1 time a week, every week! So, when I posted, if I already had one that week, I scheduled it for the next week. Pretty quickly I was a couple months ahead. So, I moved it to twice a week. LOL! Now, I add anywhere from 1 - 6 new posts a day and LOVE that schedule feature. :-)
