Antibiotics and Breastfeeding Help Quickly Please

I have some sort of intestinal bacteria and my doctor is saying that NONE of the antibiotics that can treat it are safe with breastfeeding. My research is suggesting otherwise, but I can't tell which one is the most safe. My daughter is 15 months and I DO NOT want to wean, but I'm pretty sure she would wean if I pump and dump for a week.

Does anyone know which is the best while breastfeeding?

Cipro
Levaquin
Septra

I need to tell him in the next hour or two!

Thanks!

Have you checked Hale's site? I know Cipro is OK, I took it for a month when Ian was newborn.

from what I saw on hales site, I'd probably choose levaquin.

Sorry, too late for you now and my copy of hale's is at home (I'm in the office now), but:
Cipro Usually compatible with breastfeeding (AAP)
Levaquin Not listed, but the racemic mixture, ofloxacin, is rated as usually compatible with breastfeeding (AAP)
Septra Usually compatible with breastfeeding (AAP)

All information from LactMed - click on the links for specific details.

If you let us know what you went with in the end, I can give you details from Hale's tonight.

Hope you feel better soon!

I went with Levaquin, but it seems pretty clear that any of them would be okay. This is definitely not something to wean over and I'm pretty annoyed at how emphatic my dr was that I couldn't keep breastfeeding through it. I feel so lucky to have access to such an amazing resource! Thank you so much Mamas!
