Hair products for curly hair with frizz

I am wanting to get the best shampoo and conditioner for curly, frizzy hair. I saw that I should avoid things in the ingredient that end in -one. The only place I have to buy shampoo and conditioner is at Wal-Mart can so can anyone tell me the best brands?

I saw some the other day that where new in little roundish bottles with things like peppermint and coconut and the ingredients list was very short. I cant think of the name.

I live in a very humid area and like to straighten my hair on occasion so any products to help prevent the frizz and recurl are also welcome.

Please share the names of the products you use and are most pleased with.

For a long time I followed the no shampoo recommendation for curly hair in Curly Girl by Lorraine Massy. I don't know if my body chemistry changed or all the conditioners I seemed to find left my hair goopy. My hair is really fine so any residue left it limp.

I started using baby shampoo (baby magic) and some unscented conditioner (can't remember the brand). This seems to do the trick. I don't straighten my hair so I have no recommendations for that. When I do use gel or spray I try to find something without alcohol as one of the first few ingredients. I used to use LA Looks gel but they discontinued the one I liked. My hairspray is okay. It is the kind in the bright green bottle.

Good luck. Much of the world seems clueless about curly hair.

I cannot stand stiff hair so I dont use gel though on occasion I use a mouse but I hate the crunch. My hair is thin and fine for the most part. It straightens very well but any little bit of humidity and it starts to bush.

I am working hard right now to get my hair healthy again. I had to have 6 inches cut off because it was broken and unhealthy I want to work and get it back to my waist again. To do that I have to be careful about taking my thyroid meds and not being so careless with its care. I have started taking prenatal vitamins again.

Mine is curly and dry so I also don't wash it every day which helps it stay less frizzy. I use natural conditioners and shampoos...honestly it's what I put in my hair after that's more important, I use Kiehl's silk groom. Yeah, curly hair, it's a journey...

I have hair identical to what you describe. I've found the only products that work for me long term are Aveda products. They can be pricey, which sucks, but I figure it's worth it for something that can tame my hair!

I use the rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner and the Brilliance cream for after I shower, before I blow dry it straight...and flat iron it.

They can't be purchased at Walmart, but they can be ordered online I believe. HTH!

Yeah I am willing to buy more expensive to a certain limit if it works finding what works is the journey. And since I only wash once a week max they would last a longer time.

Do you know a reliable site to order from? I worry about ordering offline since you never know if they are legit or not.

I no-poo and then use a tiny bit of coconut oil on the ends.

I tried no poo there for awhile and it didnt work I had dandruff flakes the size of corn flakes I have to use conditioner or I cant get a comb/brush through my hair.

Coconut oil sounds nice. The lady who cut my hair last week said I should put a tiny amount of Vaseline on the ends to help hold the hair down as well and it works pretty well. Since my hair is dry as dirt I guess

I will be going back every 4 weeks to keep the split ends at bay in the hopes it will grow.

The gel I mentioned I bought when I couldn't find the spray. The ingredients were the same. I put a glob of the gel in a spray bottle with some water and shake it up. It isn't stiff at all.

Sorry haven't been on, I order it online Kiehls.com I think...it's akind of creme but really helps with frizz like nothing else I've found and it is natural ish so that's nice!

I "ordered" that curly girl book through our public library and got it and read it this week. WOW! What an interesting read! I highly recommend at least reading the book....

I finished reading it today and showered before dinner. I am not really ready to give up shampoo yet, but I did at least dry it the way the author recommends. That ONE single difference was pretty dramatic in my curls. It has encouraged me to give another idea from the book a try.....

It has also led me to find a new hairstylist....one who has curly hair and wears it curly. A good haircut is much harder to come across when one has curly hair and likes to wear it curly.

You can order Aveda products from www.aveda.com

I highly recommend Aveda products.. I am a hairstylist and I used to work in an Aveda salon (stay home with DS now). I LOOOVE the products. This may be a good one for your hair..

They do have shampoo/conditioner/styling products for curly hair, but they are made for thick/coarse curly hair, so they would probably weigh your hair down quite a bit. The Rosemary Mint is good, but probably too light. I would try the Brilliant shampoo and conditioner. Light, but moisturizing. My favorite is actually the Color Conserve shampoo and conditioner, even if you don't have color treated hair, it seems to have the perfect balance of moisturizing.. but my hair is only a little frizzy and moderately wavy. I usually straighten it.. don't like my natural wave..

PM me if you have any questions on the Aveda products.. they are pricey for sure, but definitely worth it.. I so do miss my 50% discount!

Thank you all. Dont know why all the sudden I am obsessing with my hair maybe because I am getting older. I always just let it be in the past and usually kept it up in a bun since I couldnt make it do what I wanted. Now I hopefully have the resources I need to find ways to make it be the way I want it to
