Lost husband and father

Thread Starter
There are no posts here so I will start. I lost my husband to cancer just about one year ago. My dad then died a few weeks later. I have a 5 year old. I am sorting through -- the first year...my daughter to grow up without her daddy. I need to adjust to single parenthood and figure out how to fulfill goals alone. Anyone else out there?

I couldn't read this without putting up a reply. I've not been in your situation and I'm so sorry that your husband and your father have died. I'm sure other mamas will stop by with more helpful things to say.

I don't really have anything helpful to say. But I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I see that you are relatively new to MDC and I wanted to suggest that you might cross post to the single parents section. While they would not have resources specific to dealing with grief and loss, they would be able to have ideas and support for dealing with life as a single parent.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

I lost my DH 4 years ago. It is a struggle each and every day. I have a 4yo and 5yo. I am now in a new relationship after being single for 3 years. It's still VERY difficult.

Today would have been my DH 37th bday. His sister died this morning from lymphoma so I am pretty sad (we were not a good terms due to issues surrounding his death so I feel it's even harder than normal circumstances in some ways.)

sigh...

I feel like now I can finally heal and maybe move forward but it's difficult. His family has caused me such anguish over the years and it's SO hard. I feel the saddest for my children.

to you, mama,

Sorry for your losses

Please be gentle with yourself as you mourn this loss. May friends and family help you on your journey through this grief. And may your children bring you hope and comfort in the days to come.
