Another sad ending. Went in today and ultrasound revealed that our baby stopped growing at around 7 weeks. I would like to avoid a D&C, are there any herbs I could use to help my body? I'm waiting for a call back from my midwife. I just can't stand the feeling of a poor little dead baby inside me. good luck to all you other mamas. I wish you all happy healthy pregnancies and easy births.

I'm so sorry.
I've read about herbs that are used to help induce menstrual flow that can also encourage a m/c to start, but I've never tried them personally.
I've opted out of D&C's each time, and the waiting is really hard, but it just comes down to whether you'd rather be at the hospital or at home. I prefer curling up on my couch with a blanket. I'm really sorry you have to go through this at all. Take care of yourself

I am so sorry. If your midwife can't help, you might check to see if there is an herbalist or an acupuncturist in your area. Either one may be able to prescribe something.

Sending peaceful, healing thoughts to you.

I'm sorry for your loss.

When I had a blighted ovum a week before my wedding, I opted for misoprostol induction rather than a D&C. This was before I discovered MDC and more natural therapies. It did its thing very well, although I know it isn't a popular drug on these boards and isn't without risks (like any drug). I had the insertion on Monday around lunchtime (IIRC), started contracting in the afternoon, and passing tissue by mighnight. By Tuesday lunchtime it was all over.

FWIW, I only did this to avoid a spontaneous miscarriage during my wedding. If the timing had been different, I would have let things progress naturally.

I'm so sorry. I've never induced a m/c naturally, just medically.

The doctor I saw today was very comfortable with letting me wait it out. She said it could very well take a good long while. She offered to write me z prescription for Cytotec which I am not at all interested in, and left the option open for me to call and schedule a D&C if I want to. It sounds like I should have good luck with herbs, but I am also wondering, what are the chances that she is wrong? Her ultrasound machine was very old. Maybe our dates are off and she just couldn't see the heart beating? My uterus is tilted back, maybe it was just a difficult angle? I just can't help but wonder, I feel like my body has failed me! I had no idea that anything was going wrong! Maybe it was just a bad scan? Or am I in denial? This is just too much to deal with!

mama. I'm so sorry. If you are in doubt, could you have your levels checked? That would tell you for sure if the pregnancy was over and then at least you wouldn't be second guessing things while you wait.
Take good care of yourself

At this stage, if your dates are wrong, you very well could induce a miscarriage on a healthy baby. I would wait a week and ask for a repeat u/s, or draw beta hcg levels, or both.

I felt that way too. I went in for HCG blooddraws & that helped me cope. You don't need to wait a week for blood levels, you can do that now & then again tomorrow.

I'm so sorry, it's such a tough thing to go through. Feel better soon.

I recall my midwife recommending black and blue cohosh to help start contractions, I never had to take them myself so check it out online a bit more before going that route. Heal soon.
