I went back to WOH, FT, nights when DD1 was 7 weeks old. I pumped until I was about 2 months PG with #2 and i was just.so.done. with pumping, around 19 months. Had I not been PG, I'm sure DD1 would have kept nursing and I'd have kept pumping.

I went back to WOH, FT, nights, when DD2 was 11 weeks old. She's 10 months old and we're still going strong.

I have no/little sense of smell, so the clothing trick would never work for me.

I find I'm better off reading a magazine or a parenting book. Or watching TV on my phone. If my mind wanders back to the fact that I'm pumping and I even *think* the word "ounces" (as in: how many ounces do I have so far? how many ounces do I need? etc.) milk stops flowing abruptly. I have to just not think about it too much.

Kinda OT but...
Another mama at my job who didn't bf w/her first is now pg w/her second. She came to me for support. She realized I'm still pumping at work and I think it frightened her. Now she "only wants to bf for 6 months,"

On the other hand, another mama at my job who did nurse her first told me she quit nursing after 1 year and stopped pumping at 9 mo. She looked me dead in the eye and said, "You are such a good mother."

There are so many battles with pumping and nursing beyond infancy, and so many differing opinions on what is right or manageable. Anyone else have experiences they'd like to share?

I skipped pumping last Friday due to being really busy at work (I honestly didn't even think about it until after 4 pm, which is way too late if I'm going to nurse DD when we get home) and I realize in retrospect that I loved the freedom. I just have to keep reminding myself that we're almost done, and just to get through a few more weeks!

my DS is only 8 mos, but i'm still pumping away at work every day i only pump twice, and i get 12-14 oz a day. he eats anywhere from 2 oz to 10 oz, usually on the lower end, so there's always leftovers. i've been slacking off lately - pumping later and later in the day - but i'm going to get back in gear. i think i can do this for at least another year till i plan to TTC again.

just a fair warning - we're reverse-cycling. Kellymom has lots of info on that, but essentially DS hardly eats while i'm gone and nurses like i champ when i'm home. i think he's literally on my boob from when i walk in the door till when we wake up in the morning! i actually don't mind it because i miss him sooo much during the day that it's really nice to snuggle all evening. on the other hand, it's hard to get anything accomplished!!
