When does nursing become less messy?

This is a question for mamas who leak a lot/ have a strong letdown. My LO is 9 weeks old and we are finally starting to get out of the house more. We are both enjoying being out and about with one problem....NIP is incredibly frustrating for me due to my very strong letdown. Every time I nurse I spray milk everywhere. Not just on my clothes and my daughter but the floor, the boppy, the couch. Basically anything and everything nearby. Not such a big deal when at home, but I can't just strip nekkid from the waist up in a restaurant. y When do the crazy out of control boobies slow down?? Is this something I am going to have to address or will my letdown become more normal over time?
Any advice/ personal experiences would be appreciated. Thanks for the help!

DD is 7 months old, and I'm wondering the same thing!

We just keep a receiving blanket or t-shirt handy...

I was a leaker with my first son. For me, my kid would handle what was coming out of the breast he was drinking from. Although, if he unlatched, I would just leak everywhere. Mostly I leaked from the other breast.

I think (though I'm waiting to see the other postings) that everybody has a different timetable as far as when your body finally self-regulates and stops the leaking. I think I was around 9-12 months before I stopped the leakiness.

If you're leaking from the breast that the baby's eating out of, I think the only solution is a diaper/blanket under there. From the other breast, putting pressure on that nipple straight back (kinda like when you hold your hand over your heart except your holding it over your nipple and applying pressure) will stop the leaking. Light clothes worked for me to hide the worst of it.
