Does this sound like the beginning of becoming retractable?

My 3yo intact DS recently started peeing on the potty full-time, and I don't know if this is related or what. His penis looks larger, and kind of swollen right where the glans likely is. He didn't mention anything about it and didn't complain. I finally got concerned about it, and asked him if it felt OK. He said yes, then he changed his mind and said it hurt, but he didn't sound convincing. He's mentioned a few times since then that his penis hurts. But he doesn't complain of pain when he pees, and is generally fine. I don't know if the complaints are genuine or not- he is not the most accurate reporter, as is true for most kids his age.

Could it be that he's had more access to it since he stopped wearing dipes, and has been fiddling with it enough that it became retractable, which caused a change in appearance? I don't want to bring him to the doctor, but if he keeps occasionally complaining of pain I'm not sure what to do.

My guess is he is experiancing a bit of seperation it seems pretty common at his age. But unless it looked red or irritated I wouldnt worry about it. Some thing you can do to help sooth a newly retractable foreskin can be found here http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=764732

Sounds to me like there is some self-discovery going on, which usually starts the separation ball rolling. Here is a helpful thread:
