New Community Garden Plot- What to Plant?

Hi!

Well, after being told that it would be ready in March, our community garden finally opened last week. Part of the contract says that we have to garden year round and can't leave the plot fallow for more than two weeks. So I have to get planting but the question is, what? I am in Zone 9. I was thinking potatoes, but what else? All ideas welcomed!!
