Emmaline II....help please? Marine corp ????????

So I've been hunting around on here for info about military issues with PCS'ing and it seems you are quite a wealth of info :
But I do have a question.
My DH is a Marine and in your posts it says that all children must be up to date and it mentions nothing of exemptions except to say that youth services aren't held to that standard.
I know that the MC is a dept of the Navy so do we follow their rules? I would just like to have this info down and in my back pocket as he is due for orders soon and I like to be prepared.

I haven't had to look up anything more specific for the Corp. Just looking at the references for that reg. I'm guessing that they will likely pull the same as the Navy. For some reason, someone in the Navy is afraid that not being compliant with the CDC schedule will cause an international incident (seriously, I read the e-mail).

Honestly if you don't want to vax your kids, you should be able to get philosophical or religious waiver depending on what the state your in allows.
Sorry but last time i checked the military is not the law.

They are the law on a military base; and when determining command sponsorship which gives the dependents funds to live and legal protection when the member is stationed overseas. A religious exemption is enough of a battle--I would not want to even attempt a philosophical exemption.

That is kinda scary that they have the power to be above the state in terms of filing a waiver.

A state exemption is only to exempt a child from state requirements; while in the states, the only time an exemption would come up is when using DODs schools or daycare in the states--the OP is going to Japan. The military is a bit like its own "state" with its own laws (the UCMJ).

What's scary is that they are trying to pressure dependents to vaccinate by keeping them from their spouse who has no choice but to go where he is ordered, and it's not even by regulation. No country that hosts dependents has mandatory vaccine requirements for visitors and it is not part of any SOFA agreement. Someone in the NAVY has a bee in their bonnet regarding vaccinations.

I agree with all of this. We are also Navy & just did the move from Texas to Japan 2 months ago. We had to get all shots up to date or we would not have been allowed to live here with DH. We had already spent the last 3 1/2 years living apart & I just could not handle that any longer. So we caved & got all vaccines up to date. As much as I would rather us not have those shots, it was more important for us to live as a family again.
