He Doesnt Like His Ergo!!!

there's 100 something dollars im never gonna see again...
i thought ergo will be so perfect, we got it when my son was 4 mo, he didnt really like it then, and i thought that he was too little, well, hes 7.5 now and he still doesnt like it... last time i put him in there he was pushing me away and screaming... and i saw babies much younger than that enjoying their ergo ride...
i saw somebody with a beco the other day and i thought it might have worked much better... oh well, im not spending another 100 on another carrier...
since birth, ive worn my son in a cuddly wrap (kinda like moby), and he still likes it, but the bigger he gets, the harder it is, because it seems like the fabric will eventually stretch and he ends up lower than where i initially had him...
im so upset!

I think unfortunately you need to introduce it much earlier, and keep putting them in it. MY DS didn't like it at first, but I kept trying. After about the 10th time, he started liking it. By 7.5 months if they're not used to being in it, it can be much harder to get them comfortable with it. So sorry! I would still keep trying! If it's any consolation, I sold mine on craigslist for $60

I didn't really wear my baby until about 6 months - and not an ergo until 18 months - I'd just keep trying and make it for short/fun excursions like the zoo if you live in a city or berry picking and feed him over your shoulder - okay ot's late and I'm tired maybe not the best examples.....

i would keep trying too, like the other posters said, sometimes it takes a while for babies to get used to a new carrier. use it while you are out and about, walking around a lot, as standing still for long periods of time or even just being in the house can be really boring for a baby in a carrier. at 7.5mo, i'd definitely try and get comfortable with a back carry, he'll be able to see more then when facing you on the front, which he may like better.

i also wanted to say that if you have been wearing him forward facing (away from you) in the cuddly wrap, then it may be a hard transition to facing in with the ergo. it's not impossible though, it may just take some perseverance on your part to get him used to it.

ill keep trying... its just frustrating, you get it and think it will be so awesome and comfy, and he hates it... it wasnt too bad today though, we went hiking and he fell asleep in it and while i was moving, he seemed fine. oh well, we'll see...

If all else fails, Ergos are selling for almost-full-price on Ebay - I know, because that's where I bought mine. At least you know you won't lose your whole investment.

My kids both hated the Ego's. They were happy to be in their maya wraps and mei tei though.

Sleepy Wraps are definitely only good for the tiniest of babies. That's why you're having the stretch issue.
I'd just keep using the Ergo myself. Put your baby in it and then go for a walk. Try and do interesting, mobile things until your baby becomes accustomed to it.
I also agree that it's best to do these things frequently from the very beginning so your baby gets used to it.

Sell it and get something that will work.

Just a thought - are you using the front carry or the back carry? DD absolutely hates being in the Ergo on my front, but is very happy on my back.
