I had my first home birth 7 weeks ago - so its still fairly fresh in mind. I had moments of fear, but I honestly think I would have had much more than moments had I given birth in a hospital. Being home I knew that ultimately I was in control and I could make decisions. The moment I think I experienced fear the most is when the midwife recommended breaking my water (I took FOREVER to progress...26 hours of active labor after two and a half days of early/prelabor). I was exhausted - hadn't slept in days - and already experiencing a lot of pain, so all I could think of was how much more intense the contractions would get. Fortunately, my midwife gave me space after her recommendation, and my husband came in and talked rationally about what decision to make, reassuring me that I could choose, but that I should choose for the right reason.
I am so happy that I had a home birth despite any fears I may have had.
