10 lbs, really?

Had a BPP this morning and the tech estimated baby's weight at 10+lbs. He also said it looks like the head is large.

Really? C'mon! I know there is a margin of error, but this just seems crazy. I'm trying to not let it scare me...

Seeing my MW in 4 hours for more stripping and an NST. FUN FUN FUN!

BABY COME OUT NOW!!!!

Did you ask him how accurate his guesses have been in the past? Cause with a guess like that, I'd bet not very.

How big was your previous? I'm assuming not 10+ or you wouldn't be surprised by that number. I'm going to guess closer to 8 1/2... since u/s can have a 2 pound margin of error, that number sounds good to me.

No, I didn't ask. This guy is a freelance tech, travels to different offices doing ultrasounds, so I doubt he gets much outcome data.

My first was 7#11oz and everyone thinks this one is bigger. I wouldn't be surprised now that I'm 42+weeks and my diet has not been the greatest....

I agree with cristeen - I bet his guesses have been off in the past! I don't want the number to scare you!!
I've also heard that u/s's can be up to 2 lbs off, and have experienced it too...I had my first daughter at 34 weeks. The u/s they did the night before she was born estimated her weight at 5lb 12oz. She came out weighing only 4lbs 1oz...That's a huge difference!!
Hang in there mama. Baby will be here soon, and the doctor will feel silly when he's totally off.
Thinking of you. :

Also after 40 weeks weights start to drop not increase.

u/s estimated this one at 8.5-9lb. He was 7 lb 9 oz.

I wouldn't panic yet, but goodness, I'm wishing your time comes sooner rather than later!
