Needing morer absorbancy?

I briefly tried diapering w/o a snappi. I have premium pf's and would like to just fold in 3rds. I think it may give me more absorbancy. The prob is that when 7 mos old dd poops (excuse my plainess) it gets onto the cover. I have 4 bummis original and 4 super bummis for nighttime. We wash about every 2-3 days and line dry, so I try not to go through more than one cover a day. Is this unreasonable? Sometimes also the cover gets stinky when dd's dipe is really wet. So, I guess my questions are:

1) How do I avoid stinky diaper covers? (i've even tried pull on nylon and still have stink)

2) How do I fold in 3rds w/o the poo escaping?

3) Is there a better way to get more absorbancy w/o too much bulk?

I aways liked to figure in 3-5 covers for day time (each day) depending on age and 2 for night. Two covers were rotated during the day if a wet cover doesn't get time to air out it will stink lightly rinsing of wipes the inside down with water and allowing to air dry between changes helps a lot. 2 were the spare for poopy diaper changes an older baby may just need one younger more. If poo gets on the cover it needs to be washed even if it doesn't sometimes they still jsut need the wash for smell reasons so we jsut declared it was time (sometimes hand) at that time. The two at night is obvious always have a spare JIC.. I'm not a huge fan of trifolding though thats how my DH always does it you can add a doubler and use a snappi or just fan out the wings but keep the area under baby bum trifolded.

I agree to rotate a couple of covers so they have a chance to dry out. It might even help to rinse it if it's starting to get smelly and just toss it over the shower curtain rod to dry.

Just folding in thirds, your def going to go thru a few covers in a day. For that, the only I can say is more covers are needed. For more absorbency, add a doubler inside the folds fo the PF. GL
