The 6 week rule

Who actually follows it?

We made it 4 weeks and 1 day :Lol OMG - it's SO scary the first time (especially knowing there were stitches there not too long ago!)

Whew - kinda glad that's outta the way though. And, imo, it speaks well of how we're handling the newborn phase that we're 'in the mood' at all, yk?

It wasn't super nice for me - I was too worried that whole time and kind of trying to hold him back a bit, but dh was just GLAD the drought was over!!!!!

I've followed--and even extended--it so far, but I had significant tearing both previous births and was definitely nowhere near ready. Although I'm hoping to avoid tearing this time, I still can't imagine wanting it before 6-8 weeks!

Good for you guys though!!!

OMG - I was totally not 'there' until just the last couple of days and then I was feeling like a fiend!

I've never made it past the first week -- I KNOW that makes me a total freak! I'm really lucky to not ever have torn. And oddly the stimulation has really helped with the soreness down there, not made it worse. DH knows to be gentle

as badly as i tore w ds1 we waited months, with dd, i was ready at almost 3 wks, but too tired, then i woulnd up having emergency surgery, so it was like 7 wks when i was ready, then w ds2, we waited 5 wks. BUT i had been on bedrest for months aloready, and i was soooooooooooooooo ready, lol.

Weeks, I waited Months. Heck we have not DTD the whole preganancy. With ds it was 8 months before we DTD. In fact we DTD maybe three times that year. I was too tired or bfing and we were in different beds. Plus we have been together for 13 years so the honeymoon was over a long time ago. lol

I hardly tore and I can't imagine waiting at least 12 weeks. My six week exam left me sore for another 6 weeks.

My husband is coming home for two weeks R&R in 37 days. I don't care what the hell happens, we are having sex. I haven't had any since January 12. We've been married 10 years. He will go back to Iraq exhausted if I have my way. The end.

DH and I have been wondering this ourselves. Like do we HAVE to wait? I guess this thread answers our question

we were ready a couple weeks ago!! I stopped bleeding at about 3 weeks PP, so I guess there is nothing stopping us? well except a newborn in our bed, who wants to be held all the time...hmmm..

well, in any case, it will make DH's day when I tell him it's a go!

I always wait 12 weeks. I'm tired and have very little libido early on. Even without tearing I wait that long.

For some reason, my libido is in overdrive right now! I'll be 2 weeks post partum tomorrow, so it's way too soon. Plus, I tend to bleed for a long time, so I'll most likely wait the full 6 weeks.

Wowee, I had no idea that people would CHOOSE to, ah, forego the 6wk rule. Man, I'm in no mood- in any way- before then, and not till waaayy later, usually. Even with no tearing at all, I'm still plenty sore and I cannot imagine letting DH close enough to even think about it

BF makes me super dry, anyway, and I'm sure that contributes to my aversion.

This time around, I think I'm holding out till DH breaks down and gets a vas. Could be a lonnggg dry spell in that case

Remember that lube is a girl's best friend

My husband had his vasectomy a few weeks ago, so I'm wondering how I'm going to hold him off this time I just remember that there's lots of ways to "enjoy" each other without penetration so we'll definitely be starting with those "alternate" ways first for a while.

It's hard for him because I lose my weight pretty quickly (or at least did before) so for him it's like he suddenly has this new sexy wife and he can't wait to get his hands on me!

Well, I told DH I'm waiting until he gets his vas! So, if he doesn't get that than no nookie for him I have ZERO libido after a baby, but I will be nice for DH once in a while.

Did he agree to it yet? Remember the whole process took us 3.5 months from the appt with PCP for the referral to the actual surgery date. Then you have to factor in time for the post-surgery testing (first test is after 20 ejaculations, second test is after 30). I'm sure some drs are quicker to get in to than others, but we went with the dr our PCP referred us to.

I waited 3 weeks after my c-section, but my libido was roaring the day I gave birth! This time around... it's starting to come back but I'm still in pain down below (VBAC). I don't know how long I'll wait. It's a bit terrifying, especially knowing how much it hurt after a c-section.

Coconut oil is a fantastic lube, btw!!
