Vitamix or Food Processor?

All my appliances are dying! I just found out my daughter has a bunch of allergies: corn, vinegar(mould), wheat, sunflower oil etc. So I plan on making a lot of things from scratch. Which would be a better purchase a Vitamix-like blender or a Kitchen Aid Food processer? I would like to make an ice cream subsitute , our own mayo, smoothies, pesto, hummus and I would like to get into juicing. Which one would you get?

I have a KitchenAid food processor (pesto, mayo, hummus, grinding nuts into coarse flour), a cheap Cuisinart blender (smoothies, grinding seeds into coarse flour, pureeing sauces), a Cuisinart ice cream maker for coconut milk ice cream, and I want a juicer for juicing. There isn't one appliance that can do all you want. Blenders (even cheap a cheap one) are fine for smoothies with fruit and greens, I have used my $20 one at least once every day for over 5 years.

I would definitely get a vitamix. I love ours and I have a very limited diet. You can absolutely make ice cream, hummus, and all of the other things you listed. You can also make nut butters and nut milks and so many other. You can also knead dough for pizza. You can get other attachments for grinding grains... It seems endless to me.
We have had ours for a few weeks and I use it at least several times every day. Well worth the investment. We have a Kitchen Aid that has been sitting in storage for years - we never used it.

I'm glad this topic came up! I would like to get a Vitamix for Christmas--Montel Williams has sold me on it lol!
