Need Honest supportive opinions and experiences

Thread Starter
Hi,

I am the single mom to a 14 month old daughter. I was layed off my position a year ago and have been trying to find anything in my area (pr/marketing) and living off my savings.

Now that I've established that, I am an AP parent who co-sleeps, wore my baby from the day I brought her home, still breastfeed and have not vaccinated at all.

I am not necessarily against vaccinating, but do not trust them, their side effects, etc. However, soon I will have to find any work I can and will be attending grad school 9-5 next fall. I cannot afford private at home care and day cares will not accept my daughter if not vaccinated.

I've considered the one HIB shot, three tripedia DTAP shots and polio. But I am scared, I have read over 1000 pages of anti/selective vax literature and am somewhat frozen. What should I do? What did you do? I wish I could just be a stay at home mom, but sadly, I cannot.

File a religious exemption.

I work full-time as does my DH. We cannot afford a stay at home nanny either. Our son is in daycare...many mamas on here have kids in daycare and are not vaccinated. It IS possible. It might take some extra work on your part..... Getting farmiliar with the laws in your state...but it is possible. If you are not comfortable vaccinating DON"T!!!

You choices should be based on research and information. If all that you have discovered has lead you to want to not vaccinate right now (maybe you will later on...maybe not) than that is what you should fight for.

I've got two kids and have been through six daycares, preschools and public schools. Never had a problem with my religious exemption. If you are in a state without one I'd suggest trying to find an in home provider whom you trust but is not state licensed. It is usually licensing not the actual caregiver that requires the immunization record.

Lisa file a religious exempt - I did it and they didn't even ask me one single question. I got there, talked to the security guard regarding filling out the religious form, filled it out, a lady came took my form, minutes later she came back, handed me the form with an extra copy for me to sign and that was that!

I found my childcare provider through a recommendation from my chiropractor... so the ccp doesn't require shots because *she* doesn't believe in them... she accepts both vaxed and unvaxed kids and is licensed by the state but doesn't worry about it.

So call around, you might find a chiro who would be willing to give you a referral to one of their patients as a ccp...

Good luck!

File a Waiver... they have to accept your child if you live in a state with either philosophical or religious exemption

For what it's worth, my ped told me flat out that the polio shot is not worth it b/c the only polio in the USA was caused by the vax. She said there hasn't been true polio here in over 40 years.

if someone got polio today they may not even realize it.. it could be as mild as a cold... when the vaccine came out they change the criteria for diagnosing polio and diagnosed more cases that would have been labeled polio as meningitis.. also there have been connections made at that point with DDT poisoning which are nearly identical to symptoms of polio.. i believe a large part of the polio scare was clever campaigning and politics... in reality i think the vaccine did very little to begin with.. you can't get polio by standing next to someone or breathing on them...it's mainly caught by contact with another persons feces... the vaccine like most other vaccines is pointless... again never are they 100% safe or effective... often spread the disease your being vaccinated for.. do not prevent transmission etcetc... i see so many people (even with this H1N1) tout that even if only a small pop gets it they will see less spreading of the disease.. not so... vaccines do not mean you cannot get the disease or spread it...and what people are not taking into account is the damage/assault the vaccines are making on the body...

These diseases don't scare me.. the corruption behind big pharma is more scary than all of those diseases combined

Giving "just one or two select shots" won't help your child get into daycare. If you go the vaccine route, you need to give ALL the vaccines "required" by your state for daycare/school attendence, and within a reasonable time frame (you can start your child without vaccines as long as you have a schedule of when you plan to "catch up" on "missed" vaccines.")

Or you can file a religious exemption and hand that in instead of the list of vaccines your child has received. I did that just this year when signing my daughters up for public school. At the main registration office, they asked for a medical form filled out by the doctor and list of vaccines they got; instead I handed in the medical form and an exemption (printed out online, filled out and notarized) when she asked for the list of vaccines.

Last week the high school nurse called me. "I don't have DD1's immunization record." "I sent in the exemption form with the district." "OK, I'll call over to that office and ask them for it- apparently they never sent me a copy."

It was truly no big deal. They ask for vaccines, but when you hand in the exemption, they can still check off the "vaccine" box on the registration forms.

exemption exemption exemption....!!!!!!!!!!

do not go against your gut feeling or personal beliefs especially when you have done the research and have put time and work into educating yourself about them and are still not comfortable with it...

i do not go to mainstream doctors ... i find holistic doctors.. i have to travel.. and i pay for it.. my ins is only good for hospital coverage anyways.. as is most i would assume... but i can sleep, i don't walk out the office feeling like i've been made out to be a criminal, and i can talk.. the doctor talks to me... i have closure when i need it.. i can go to that doctor with my concerns and be treated with respect.. i am happy with myself that i have not bee pushed or humiliated or demonized and nothing unnecessary or unethical is being done without my consent .. and it's all worth it... don't give in to something you do not feel comfortable doing... "YOU CAN DO IT!"

Religious exemption. I'm sure it's been mentioned.

You don't have to belong to any religion. It can be a home religion.

What state are you in?

Most states have religious exemptions. Some states if you give even jone vax, you have to do them all. If I lived in a state like that, and I wanted to selectively vax I would lie and say my child had no vaxes at all so we could be exempt. But where I live you can selectively vax AND do the exemption.
