Safe Face Paint?

I need to get some face paint for my DS's halloween costume (skeleton) and it seems a lot of face paint has been recalled over the last year. They all claim they're "non-toxic" but I guess that just means the animals didn't keel over and die when it was applied to them. Does anyone know of a brand that is all-natural? Or has anyone ever made face paint? I've seen some recipes online for it but not sure how it actually turns out. If anyone has experience with it, let me know! Thanks!!

Bumping this. I really want to find safe face paint, too!!
I got a "Snazaroo" face paint kit for Christmas and have been having so much fun with it! I just volunteered to face paint at our church picnic, but then the pastor passed on an email from a concerned parent which linked to an article about studies where independent tests found lead and other toxic contaminants in all the brands tested - and the most lead was in Snazaroo! It is so disappointing, I mean the stuff goes on and on about how non-toxic it is and manufactured to the highest standards blah, blah, blah... but it just goes to show how the FDA is not actually there to protect people, if this stuff is out there being sold to be painted onto children!
So, I would love to find a source for truly safe, natural, even organic face paints, even if they are expensive. Or, as Elizabeth mentioned, homemade recipes. (I might try an all-natural white toothpaste with natural food colors?)
Thanks so much for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try Luna Organics.

She is also on Etsy, I believe.

I noticed the other day that Lyra makes face painting pencils. I'm betting are non-toxic.

There are many great brands of face paint out there.  If you don't want to shop online and would rather go to a local store, you can find a brand called Snazzaroo Face Paint at many Craft Stores and (if you're lucky) Big box stores like Walmart.  Some craft stores such as Michael's also began carrying a brand called Tulip Face Paint.  This is a good, safe brand, though some colors do stain and will require a litte more work in removal.

If you don't mind shoppin online, the options are much less limited.  Safe brands include Mehron Paradise, Wolfe F/X, Diamond F/X, TAG, FAB, and Kryolan, just to name a few.  To find where to buy these, simply do a google search for the brand name and you should be able to find a site that sells them.  Your best bet since you are not a professional and likely don't know exactly what to look for is to go directly to the actual brand site.  However, being that I AM a professional face painter, I can recommend the Face Paint Forum Shop.  They have great prices, great service, and the forum it is attached to can answer pretty much ANY questions you may have.  Good luck!
