My 5 month old kitten had been gone 4 days and I was really starting to worry! He's indoor/outdoor, and has a couple times been gone a full 24 hours, but never longer, and usually it's only a few hours and we see him around the immediate area. I know the last time I saw him was Sunday, because he was proudly showing off his first "real" kill (a chipmunk, he's been practicing on flies and crickets before the chipmunk!) then he left again, presumably to hunt some more, and didn't come home again.
I had just told my husband that maybe it was time to call the shelter to see if someone picked him up, but tonight he was at the front door waiting for us!
He's perfectly fine, no injuries at all, looks great, and is PURRING his little heart out, obviously happy to see us!
He is fixed, on appropriate parasite preventatives, fully clawed, microchipped, and wears a collar, and we live in a residential but heavy-wildlife area so I felt perfectly comfortable letting him be indoor/outdoor. But whew! This scared me!!!! I missed him!!!
