General uncirced questions =]

Thread Starter
I have two darling sons, ages 5 and 9 months. I gave my to my oldest at a very young age and was pressured by his father to get him circed, a choice that I still and will forever regret. With our newest addition I put my foot down and refused to let it happen. Being as I haven't had a LO that hasn't been circed, I know there are some "guidelines" as far as care and what to expect as they age. I know you aren't supposed to retract the skin and what not...so I just pull it a tiny bit so the foreskin isn't bunched up at the tip at bath time to make sure its completely clean. As he ages, is there anything else I should know to tell him about care, what to expect or any general facts?

TIA mums!

Congratulations, such a lucky boy. And a strong mom. The rule of thumb (and the big secret ) is you don't have to do anything. In fact, it isn't necessary to move it even the little bit you're doing.

Generally speaking, all you'll have to do is wipe it like a finger when you change or wash him. And actually when he's in the bath, you probably don't even need to wipe it. As he get's older, he'll figure out that he can retract it (something only he should do) and when that happens, he can periodically retract, rinse replace in the tub/shower and that's it. Sometimes BTW, it might not be retractable until he's a teen. So don't be surprised if that is the case.

I hope that helps. Let us know if something isn't clear or you have another question.

Just swish it in the bath and let him play with it in there. It will get plenty clean that way

Congrats on your son and on leaving him intact! Others have said it well: you don't even need to move it around or do anything. Just letting him sit in the bath will clean it fine even without specifically cleaning the area. No soap is necessary either, just plain warm water.

Really, it couldn't be simpler. The only part that is a little tricky is getting all other caregivers to understand that they are not to retract the foreskin. Always make sure that your son's doc and anyone else who cares for him know not to retract.

Just wipe like a finger if it gets poopy. There is no need to try and manipulate it in the bath. The opening is a shincter that only relaxes to let urine out, so nothing can get in. Here is a good thread I made:
