I have an eight-year-old girl who would LOVE to be involved in this.

ETA: she says to say that she likes roller skating, swimming, collecting rocks, chickens, climbing trees, and jumping on trampolines.

Bumping this old thread instead of starting a new one. My 7.5 yr old daughter has just asked me to find her a penpal. She's a very sensitive kid, into animals, especially endangered species. She loves insects, slugs, and snails. She loves her new dog and likes to look up information about different dog breeds. She isn't your typical girly girl. Not interested in princesses or Hannah Montana or any of that stuff. She doesn't care about fashion trends, but she does like making her own clothes. Her latest interest is carnivorous plants. She loves being in the woods, camping, rock hunting, bike riding. She is an amazing artist and wants to do some sculpting next. Her spelling is atrocious, but she is beginning to want to work on it. We live in Portland, Oregon. If anybody is interested, send me a PM!

Just saw this updated thread. I'm pm'ing you LucyRev. -- OK. I tried to PM you, but your mailbox is full.

Here's some info. PM me if you are interested.

My DD is 7 and loves animals of all kinds. We have two dogs and are considering getting chickens. DD loves cats best of all though we don't have one due to my allergies.

She's a science nut - especially loved biology of all kinds, doing chemistry experiments, anything in nature, etc.

She loves reading - everything from novels to comics. She's into The Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Warrior Cats, and most fantasy books with animals; she also likes Garfield and Calvin and Hobbes. We make up a lot of stories, too.

DD would love to get more mail. (My mom offered to be her penpal, but DD wants a kid penpal.)

Thanks ladies! My DD already sent off a penpal letter and we have another potential penpal lined up as well. 2 is enough for her. Maybe you can trade addresses with each other?

Just found this thread!

My older son is 7 1/2 and has been asking about pen pals. He is into Bakugan, LEGO, marine life (sharks, manta rays, hermit crabs, jellyfish), cycling, skateboarding, karate, insects, organic farming, swimming/snorkeling, bionicle, science, hiking, airplanes, space, drawing, our angora rabbit, and much more.

If anyone has a child (boy or girl) who likes chatting about those things, he'd love a pen pal - PM me!

Denise

HI,
My 8 yr old DS loves getting mails too but hates writing LOL... Are we supposed to ask them to write their own letters, right? I have 8 yr old DS and 4 yr old DD.
DS- loves Legos, Bionicles, Pokemon, skateboarding, Taekwondo, piano, building things, reading, science projects.

DD- loves to dance (just started dance lessons), drawing, painting, singing, loves to get the same thing her brother gets so if she doesn't get her mail, she will be disappointed LOL...

How often do we send out the mail? I would love to be in the postcard group too, please let me know...
Someone PM me for address. Thank you for starting this thread!
