2 sacs, 1 baby 5w4d. *update*

We had our second u/s today and only saw 1 baby again. Our baby was measuring 8w1d and the second sac was measuring 7w1d. Looks like we're having a singleton!! Thanks for all the support! There is the tiniest teensy weensy-est chance we could have twins in may. But I'm feeling like only 1. Dh is feeling like 2 however

Today there was 2 sacks but only 1 baby. BUT the tech said it was the tiniest baby she ever saw and she thought it was amazing we saw it, so she thinks it's just too early for the other one OR there was a twin and it died. We're claiming the strength and life of baby B!! We'll go back in 2 weeks to see them both YAY! we're really excited.

So baby A's hb was 116 and measured 5w6d. Baby B (or sack B) measured 5w4d. Which she said can be too early to see a baby. So what I'm wondering if anyone had something similar to this happen? is 5w4d too early to see anything? Any advice is greatly appreciated

5 weeks 4 days is very early to expect to see anything. I am sure by the the next visit baby B will be visable. Congrats on your pregnancy! You are due on my son's birthday! May is a wonderful time to have a baby.

I had an U/S at 5 weeks too, we saw two sacs, only one had a fetal pole, the other looked misshapen and empty.
But by 7 weeks both were fine

That is super early to expect to see anything. I would try not to worry and wait until your next u/s.

it's way too early to see much of anything. Please keep us updated

I saw my babes at 6 weeks and 3 days! Couldn't get heartbeats though so we went back at 9 weeks and 3 days. The change so much in three weeks!!!

I could only see two heartbeats at 6.5 weeks. At 11 weeks, there were clearly 3 babies.

At 5w 4d all we saw was a black jellybean. Just 1 sac, no fetal pole visualized. At 7w 4d, it was a whole different ballgame - 2 sacs, 2 heartbeats, 2 parents-to-be with their jaws on the floor!

I hope you have a similar experience!

Thank you mama's SO much! It's is really nice to read your comments especially because my mw's assistant called me today and said that the sac would NEVER EVER turn into ANYTHING. It would just grow and I'd birth it with the viable baby. Which is strange because the day I had the u/s she called me to WARN me that we might ONLY see a sac b/c it was too early...gah. I'm just going to ignore her I think.

Aww...I'm sorry, that's kind of rude. I remember when I found out I was having twins at 10 weeks I still felt like it wasn't "real" and that something would probably happen to one of them or something. I dunno I just couldn't picture having two I guess. Then I had a "so called" friend tell me that she felt bad for me cause she miscarried a twin at 16 weeks...as if that had something to do with EVERYONE that is pregnant with two. I'd say those first few weeks are just hard cause you just have to wait for time to pass before you can feel more secure about what is really going on. Well, I am almost 33 weeks with two little soccer players (boys) Seriously they are kicking each other and me...as we speak. Geez, I wonder when they sleep sometimes?!

Ha, we saw ONE fetal pole and sac at 5w5d. Since I'd had several miscarriages, we went back at 7w2d and saw two babies and heart beats! I'd think seeing two sacs would be encouraging, since our second sac wasn't even visable that early.

Hey Danielle

I saw your post on facebook and I figured you might ask a question here. Congratulations on the twins. How exciting! With D I had spotting so I had a ultrsound at 5 weeks 2 days and all we saw was a sac. I had bleeding a week later at 6 weeks 3 days so I had another u/s and the doc said he *might* of seen a fetal pole but all there was for sure was a gestational sac and a yolk. I thought the worse since it was 6.5 weeks but two weeks later my little D was there with a heart beat. Since you are only 5.5 weeks I think it amazing you saw the one heartbeat already. It is common to just see the gestational sac then. I bet both babieswill be there in two weeks.

THANKS DIANNA!!! It's so helpful to hear that happened to someone who you know IRL who's daughter you can see! I can't wait to go back and see my little babies...though the though is starting to really make me worry! You know, about how we'll do it. But I'm taking it one day at a time. right now my biggest worry is eating enough.

Shoot, my first dd (now almost 9 yo) was not seen at 1 day shy of 8 weeks! EIGHT weeks! The doctor told me that they could see the sac but no baby and that it was most likely a non-viable pregnancy. I was crushed. 2 weeks later we repeated the u/s and there she was! It makes me angry that they do scans that early for most women for so many reasons, this being one of them. Good luck!

I agree with PP that 5 weeks is early. The MD only found one of my twins at 9 weeks. I had a hunch there may be twins because I was showing early and felt like I was going to split apart. I even asked "are you sure there aren't 2 in there?" It wasn't until I had the quad screening test results come back at 17 weeks that they suspected twins.

Don't know if this helps any, but I firmly believe my twins were conceived about a week apart (maybe more). No one even saw DD on ultrasound until 16 weeks - no idea 'till then that I was having twins!!

Thanks everyone My mw emailed me and said there wa a chance that the sac would turn into a baby. She said they "like" to see a yolk sac at 5w4d but since it was exactly 5w4d theres still a "slight" chance. I'll take that

I'll update in 10 days when I get my u/s!! I think I might even put it off another week to make sure that the second baby has time to grow big and strong
