When did you start using the BBLP?

I'm just wondering, at what age did you start using the BBLP with your little ones?

I've tried it with my 3 month old, and she really doesn't like it. And I'm thinking I need to learn another way to hold her (the under the thighs looks like a good way to go) or switch to a bowl or tupperware that I see many using.

This is totally a newbie question, but I'm trying figure some things out.

we used the bblp from the very beginning (8 days). DD did not want to be dangled. She would only use it or the potty bowl and they had to have the potty cozy on or she wouldn't go. Around 3 months she started refusing the potty and would only go in an in arm hold. Around 6 months I can get her to do either. I just offer one way (usually whichever way is convenient) and if she refuses try another, until I am sure that she really doesn't need to go. Sometimes she wants the in arms hold but not over the toilet (outside, or held in arms over the bblp).

We got a little potty when our son was around 3 months old--he was getting heavy to hold over a bucket in the sink, which is what we used before (started around 8 weeks old). He knew what to do with it right away! I find now (5 1/2 months) it's easier to use the potty for the morning poop and then mostly the sink (or outdoors) for pees. Sometimes he definitely doesn't want to sit on the potty but will go if I hold him over the sink instead.

4.5 months is when we started EC. I bought the BBLP and put her on it as soon as we got home. If we had started from birth, I'd say that as soon as they're able to sit up with assistance is a good time for the BBLP. Unless of course your little one prefers in arms.

We just started using the BBLP recently - at 5 months old. I think he still prefers being held over the sink (fun mirror time!), but he went in the potty the first time I put him on it (after staring down at it for a while with a look like "what is this all about?"). My LO isn't sitting up without support yet, so I put him on it facing away from me and hold him up (so it's a similar experience to being held with the hands-under-thighs position with him facing away from me).

I don't remember, but it was 3-4 months old. I had (still do) it on the bathroom counter by the sink. Sometimes she'd go in the potty, sometimes the sink. I remember a lot of back and forth. Sometimes the bblp was just a place to rest during a poop.

Each time I had attempted to use the BBLP previously, I thought she was fussing because she was uncomfortable. Today we tried again for the first time in awhile and she was okay on it. When she fussed, it was because she was about to eliminate some. I think she is just now getting tall enough and strong enough to sit on it comfortably. She was actually almost sitting entirely unsupported today. Who knew that it kind of can work as a baby bumpo?

I started EC wit ds at birth, holding him over a 16oz takeout container (perfect size for small bum!) for the first time at 26 days. He was not into the bblp until he could actually sit on it ( about 3mos) I use it mostly at night and use the toilet or sink during daytime. He is 3.5mos now and I am very exited to report out first 1 diaper day! Keep it up, it's worth it!

So now I'm curious, when you say diaper free day, do you mean also no misses?

Yes, yesterday was without misses, I kept him in a cloth diaper and he wore that same one to bed...it was a rainy day and we were home all day so I was very much in tune. He is starting to get a little predictable...for now!

Do you have a link for the potty cozy?

My ds is only 7 wks and we are real hit and miss with our pottying - it's tough with a nb and a two-year old to stay tuned in! Anyway, I have a bblp, but ds seems to fuss on it, even if he's just hovering. I'm thinking a cozy would help.

I most often use my sitz bath from PP recovery!

Started EC with ds#2 at about 6 weeks and started on the potty sometime after...

At birth for ds#3... he was a big baby and it was hard to put him over the sink before long...

here is a pic when he was 7 1/2 weeks on the potty... we have a large counter in the bathroom so he got that mirror time that he loved also

We started using the bblp at 6 wks. If you sit the baby down right up front, you can lean them forward against the pee lip & it works great. We kept it on the changing table, so we could hold her under the arms.

We used it when DD1 could sit independently, @ 6 mo. DD2 isn't there yet.
