? about baby's bowel movements

Girls,

I feel like a first time mom again!!!

Question about bowel movements. Poor Johnny strains quite hard to pass bm's. He is 100% breastfed, and feeding frequently. Everything I have read saiys babies this age should have a few bm's per day. He went once a tiny bit yesterday (and it looked normal, not hard). But, he was straining all night, clearly uncomfortable, and has yet to go.

How often does you BF baby poop?

What should I do? I've rubbed castor oil on his tummy, which is safe for babies. BUt, would call the dr. or midwife about this?

Jackson has a poopy diaper every time I change him for the most part. We change himabout every 1.5-2 hrs. I have noticed that he strains as well. I think his straining is due to gas though. HTH

Ds strains alot but he may not have a bm for 2 to 3 days. Its perfectly normal for breastfed babies to do this. Its not hard at all and is normal yellow color.

Also the first three weeks was a bm at almost every diaper change.

My DS only pooped once a week from 1-6 months (he started eating solids at 6 months). I thought something was wrong so I took him to the doctor.. The doctor said breast milk can be extremely efficient and that it's normal for BF babies to only go every few days (up to 7). I would sometimes give him a glycerine suppository on day 7 if he seemed really uncomfortable.

my dd seems to be saving it up for once a day... usually a decent quantity. Sometimes I can tell a a few times I missed whe was doing it. A week ago I was dealing with slimy poop of a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance.
