Clomid side effect question

So I see from other threads that some have a lot of side effects from clomid and others don't suffer as much. What have people done to minimize the impact of the side effects? Taking it at bedtime? Are there herbs or anything you can take with it?
And most importantly, do you only feel the side effects during the 5-7 days you are on it or do they last the whole cycle?
(I meet with a RE in 2 weeks and my head is buzzing with questions!)

I took mine at night and I really think that that helped. I felt a little weepy and had a headache on one of the days. It was only while I was taking the clomid, and felt fine the rest of the cycle. Now however, I'm on my second cycle of clomid and 23 dpo (!) and still getting bfn's. I think that I developed a corpus luteum cyst, and that would definitely be from the clomid. I don't think I'm going to take it again

Clomid gave me insomnia, so I took it in the morning. Acupuncture helped the symptoms, as far as mood and nausea. Unfortunately though, it builds up in your system each so that cycle you take it, the side effects are worse. The acupuncture didn't help the cysts. Clomid gave me cysts every cycle or two, and you can't cycle with cysts, so I kept having to take a break from it. Unfortunately, those cysts produce hormones so those cyst cycles were about 45 days long.

The worst two side effects as far as conceiving were that it dried up the cervical fluid and it thins out your endometrium, which can prevent implantation if it gets too thin. Nothing can help with the endometrium, but green tea and evening primrose oil can help with the cervical fluid, if you take them before ovulation only.

I didn't find that acupuncture reduced the side effects I experienced, but I'm one of the people who had few side effects. The headaches subsided a few days after I finished the course of Clomid...those were mild. The hot flashes were intermittent throughout my whole cycle, but the ones I have during pregnancy are worse.

I didn't have any negative side effects from clomid- actually while taking it I felt great and had a lot of energy. I got pregnant the first month on it though (baby #2), so no clue if over time it would have bothered me. I was terrified of the side effects, and it took me a long time to agree to try clomid because of that fear. Personally, I have a theory that if you don't have many side effects, that the drug is more likely to work, because its somehow working with your body instead of against it- but that is purely my own unmedical theory.

Good luck with your RE!

I conceived DD after five cycles of Clomid 200 mg. My side effects were BAD the last four cycles. I had headaches, insomnia, bad visual disturbances (those were the scariest side effect), mood swings (but who knows if they were due to the IF roller coaster or the Clomid?) etc.... I never developed cysts or lining issues. I took it in the morning, at night, unfortunately, it didn't seem to matter in terms of side effects. They let up a few days after taking the last pill each time, so they lasted about a week. BUT I conceived DD on it (with the help of metformin and IUIs) so I'll go through it again, eventually, if necessary.

Clomid side effects

hello,
i got mad hot flashes and sometimes just felt overly emotional and tearful at times, that was it.
Clomid side effects are mild for most people. You can read about clomid side effects on: http://infertility.about.com/od/clom...de_effects.htm
