10 month old nursed only 3 times today!

My little one is almost 10 months old. I am expecting to nurse until he is at least 2 years old or possibly longer... maybe child led weaning?

Usually he has a long nursing session before we leave bed and then at least every 3 hours after that. Sometimes there are handful of long sessions, sometimes many little snacking sessions.

He eats solids 2-3 times a day. Not much, just mostly for fun tasting.

Today he only nursed 3 times in a 12 hour period despite my offering more. 1 of those times was less than 2 minutes and only on one side.

This has happened only today and with no warning. I have already pumped once today and am about to again to relieve engorgement.

Any ideas as to what is going on or what I should do?

Ds has random days where he barely bf, usually he makes up for it other days where he suddenly wants to bf every hour!

Don't worry. My 10 months old is a bit of an erratic feeder. Most days he doesn't want much. Some days hardly any, and then the occasional day he wants loads. he was sick last week and he bf a lot more during those few days, but he's slowly going back to his no bf much ways...

My babe (almost 12 months) has been nursing much less frequently as well the past few weeks. He seems to be too busy practicing all his new skills to nurse. I'll offer verbally, and he'll indicates he wants to nurse, but once I get him on my lap he's pulling away to get down and play. He's still eating solids, nursing a lot at night, and gaining, but I too worry about the infrequency of his nursing. I am pumping and giving him milk in a cup when I can, if he's not been nursing much. Also, about 4 days a week I'm away for 3 to 4 hours in the morning, and DH will give DS some milk in a cup at those times.

No no advice to you. I'm not sure as yet if it is a problem or not. But just to let you know, you're not alone.

Thanks all! We were back on track a couple days later. I think it is due to teething and my discouraging him from chewing on me... He really wanted to so not letting him he probably just gave up until his urge to chew so much calmed down.
