severe baby acne or food intolerance rash?

So now that the poop is under control, her baby acne has gotten insanely bad. I actually can't decide if it's baby acne or a bad rash. I mean, it's on her cheeks, forehead, neck, head, her freaking EYELIDS, even a little on her ears. Mostly though, it's on her cheeks and forehead. Her chin and nose are the only areas of her face unaffected. The rest of her body is not effected either.

My first had a rash like this, but it was also on her hands, chest, and some on her back. When I stopped dairy it improved, but I also quit dairy when she was about the age it would have improved anyway (around 6 weeks).

So, should I just wait it out a week or GAH!! cut out soy now? I CANNOT do a major massive elimination diet. I just can't. I'm barely getting enough food in now, ask me to go on a diet that requires cooking everything from scratch and it's just not going to fly, I'd starve.

I know you don't want to hear this, but it does sound a bit over the top to be normal. Jules (almost 8 weeks is very allergic to soy) I thought I was doing good by eating sprout bread and was not eating tofu and soy milk, but there was soy lecithin in the bread. He is also allergic to lemons, eggs, coconut, sugar, and milk (but plain yogurt, butter, kefir, cheddar cheese, and goats milk are fine) So we have options. He was very pimply and had a stuffy nose, but that has cleared up since staying away from all those things.

Yeah it is hard to have to cook everythoing, butI know it is really healthy. I do love protien bars, so I have been eating larabars and they are safe foods with no soy.

I have three kids under the age of 5 and the fussiest baby on earth.

Can YOU cook while your child screams?

*sigh* maybe she's still clearing out the dairy. I guess I will give it a week and eliminate everything. I have no idea how I'd manage that though.

just a thought, perhaps some of the fussiness will clear up when the acne/rash does.

dd here has bad baby acne now, and is a bit fussier and rubs her face on our shoulders a whole bunch right now - the stuff looks painful to me.

LO had really bad baby acne from 4-6 weeks. It cleared up very quickly in the last week. I was worried that it was food intollerance and my ped took one look and said it was normal. Do you like your ped? A visit would be a lot easier than an intolerance diet.

Well, taking her to the ped is tricky because we're still waiting to get an appointment with the county records people and our midwife so we can get her birth certificate so we can add her to our health insurance. Apparently homebirthers have hoops to jump through :/

I'm sure at least some of this is food intolerance becuase her ears are effected and it looks like excema on the ears.

I've had NO dairy and I swear I should be seeing improvement by now. Her poop improved awhile back but last time it was mucus-y.

As soon as we run out of the soy stuff we have now, I'll cut that out too *deep sigh* I am like wanting to die just thinking about my life without soy AND dairy. I am a sad, sad, SAD panda.

I'd wait another week or two. My DS2 still has a bit of baby acne and is about 6.5 weeks now, though its starting to improve. And he occasionally has greenish (but *NOT* mucousy) poops. I'm waiting it out. My first DS1 had serious baby acne & occasional green poops for about a month or two around this age and then they both cleared up by themselves. IMO a lot of folks around here are *WAY* too quick to jump on the food intolerance bandwagon...

What about saving the trouble of cutting a food out a waiting, and not really knowing, and trying muscle testing or dowsing? Like I thought my baby was reacting to the dairy in somethign in some crackers, and I was going to cut out dairy, but then I tested each specific ingridient in the crackers, and I got that it was one of the other ones (for us it was autolized yeast extract). Crackers are gone, and baby got better, but I can still eat yogurt and cheese.

I hope I am not causing stress with my thoughts, but I do hope it works out. My dd is allergic to soy, but can have cultured soy (miso or temphe or sprouted soy in ezekiel bread) She has so many allergies and I know how hard it can be.

FWIW, your description of your little one's behaviour and the vicious rash, sounds exactly like what ET had when we first switched her to soy formula. OMG it was horrible and looked painful and she was horrid to deal with.

Turns out with my dd that she is not dairy allergic - so much as soy allergic.

I don't know if that will help but I noticed a massive improvement within a day of switching. I also know that it will take a little longer for it to work through your system. I hope you find a solution quickly!

Ok so I haven't reduced the soy yet but the rash got miraculously better today. Like almost gone. Huh.

Her poop is still a little bit mucusy tho. I did not lower the amount of soy I have been getting really so it might be just taking awhile to get rid of the dairy? I can't afford to just throw out the soy stuff I have now so, asap I'll eliminate that too.
